Russian Doll (On Netflix)

The protagonist is celebrating her 36th birthday and the series starts with her in the washroom at the scene of her birthday party.
She dies during the first episode itself and returns to the same washroom.
She keeps dying and keeps returning and now wants to figure out what is happening.

The acting is top notch and Amy Poehler is one of the creators .
Give it a watch. Worth it.
As always - do not watch with kids around.

OT - Any reviews of the Fyre Festival on Netflix.

Any fans for 'The Killing', available on Netflix?
I absolutely loved Season 1, and also done with Season 2.

Now into Season 3, which is a bit dark. However, I like the sense of suspense it brings with it. No obvious clues.

The Kingdom on Netflix (Korean)

Zombie drama set during the time of kings and kingdoms. Well-written, keeps you hooked as you discover a kingdom slowly turning into a zombieland.

I watched seasons 1 and 2. Very intense. But I think they should have cut the subplots and red herrings and wrapped up the story in season 1 itself.

I hope Season 3 does not continue the previous story with a new twist.

Can someone refer good political drama series?

Recently watched the following:

- The Designated Survivor : would rate 3/5. First season is a good watch, didn't like the second season as it was boring and had to rush through it.

- Bodyguard : would rate 4/5. Short season, good story and it keeps you glued.

Was planning to start "Madam Secretary", reviews would be helpful.

P.S. - I think I'm the only one who doesn't like "House of Cards"

I would recommend The West Wing if it is political drama. This has been rated as #1 in political dramas. With Martin Sheen and John Spencer as President and Chief of Staff it can't get better. The first 2 seasons are brilliant thanks to Around Sorkin's screenplay. After that it slides a little, but still is quite food. Note it's an old one and is available on Amazon Prime for now

I would second @subraiyr's suggestion about "The West Wing"

I would also recommend "Veep" which is streamed on Hotstar.
Veep has an insane cast of characters and shows you the comical side of politics.
And the protagonist ably played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus is an insane / deeply selfish, self centered boss.

"The Killing" is based on a Danish series called "Forbrydelsen" which I saw when I was staying in HK.
Since you are based in Australia, if you can stream it, you will find that season 1 is a direct lift of the Danish series but the Danes do it much better.
I was unable to find it on Indian Prime or Indian Netflix.

Another great Danish series if you can stream at Australia is "Borgen". Political intrigue as a newly appointed Prime Minister navigates internal conflicts and back stabbing.

I did see it was based on the Danish series in the credits.
I agree with how Season 2 was prolonged a bit, whereas it could have been wrapped in Season 1 itself.

We are still in the process of watching Season 3, and can confirm its not an extension of the previous seasons. A bit dark, slow paced storytelling though.

Just a heads-up! The Shield's remastered version has been released. If you loved watching crime drama serials like The Wire, The Sopranos, Sons of Anarchy, this is a must watch. Metascore of 92% and 87% on Rotten Tomatoes.

On 720p/1080p, I bet the remastered version will be a treat to watch on large screens compared to the 480i DVD version I had watched back then with black borders at the sides.

YOU (Netflix)

An American Thriller Series based on the novel "YOU" by Caroline Kepnes (2014).
The story revolves around an ordinary bookstore manager who crosses paths with an aspiring writer and later is obsessed with her.
How does he get close to her? By what means? Well to know that you've got to watch it.

It has 10 episodes - 45 minutes each. Every new episode will bring you a new side of the protagonist. Worth the watch!

Have been exploring the Kids profile which comes as an option in Netflix. The simple fact is very few Netflix series can be watched “safely” when the family is up!

Discovered some interesting stuff targeted at pre-teens: a movie series called “Boots & Bruno” based on the age-old concept of boarding schools, in this case a boys school and a neighbouring girls school, that my kids and I both enjoyed. A talented young cast supported by one or two familiar faces. The humour is a combination of clever and slapstick which is refreshing. Strictly kidstuff though- don’t come complaining if you get bored
