Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

So Afghanistan played with 4 spinners against Netherlands and they took 6 wickets, the remaining 4 (of the top 5) were run out.

We should play Ashwin as a 3rd spinner against SA and Netherlands given they are not as comfortable against quality spin as compared to pace.

Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

I wish if they had moved the match in Delhi to some other venue. We dont have any dearth of stadiums to play.

Lol he got his 1-2 days of social media traction. I’m sure he did it deliberately to come in news as barely anybody remembers him. Maybe trying for pakistan’s next coach position

I think Wasim Akram responded effectively to this allegation in one of their post match reviews with Misbah, Moin and Shoaib Malik.

Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

Hardik Pandya has been ruled out for rest of the World cup. They chose Prasid Krishna as replacement, an interesting choice given his inexperience and not an all rounder. Wonder why they are not selected Axar Patel as the replacement. May be we cannot expect Axar to finish 10 overs qouta as a regular bowler or he is not fit for no 6 role as a backup bowler.

There is no point selecting Axar Patel when you already have Ravi Ashwin, one of the greatest spinner of our times, warming the benches. Axar vs Ashwin is a Shardul Thakur vs Shami kind of call.

Not exactly sure if Axar has fully recovered for his injury either.

Yes, we cannot trust him as a full time bowler replacing one of our regular bowler or slot in at no 6 as a back up player. Regarding his injury, I think he is fit and recently played Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 series.

Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

Think they will continue playing this same team for next 4 matches. Big blow for India though we have actually showed that we can do well without him also. SkY need to play 2-3 blinders to leave a permanent mark and repay the faith team has been showing on him.

Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

We don't need to change the eleven at all. This is a well settled combination now. We need to change only in the unfortunate event of an injury. Each of them has performed well in atleast a match. I am worried about the day when Rohit and Kohli fails togather in one match. One of them has always clicked in most matches.

Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

Agreed with the above posts. No need to change the combination unless anyone in current setup gets badly injured (hope nobody does till finals). And incase anybody does, Ishan & Ashwin are decent backup for now.

Meanwhile NZ is toying with pakistani bowlers. Rachin Ravindra has been a terrific revelation in this World Cup. Young man has tremendous potential. This is his 3rd century in this World Cup while Williamson just misses his century by 5 runs. This will be another run feast for NZ, hope pakistan atleast gives some fight to make the match interesting the way they did with SA(although that was a relatively low scoring game).

BCCI to check with Rachin if they can process his Aadhar Card

Kane Williamson has to be the most selfless cricketer. A great team player Just not worried about his personal milestone after having watched from the sidelines. Respect for him goes threefold.

Edit: Rachin gets out as his Aadhar Card appointment was scheduled at 14:00 Hours!

Manjrekar was stunned on seeing Kane taking a chance in the 90s. I think it showed a mirror to Manjrekar how not to be selfish. I remember Manjrekar's knocks where he just used to stat pad!

Axar is still at the NCA apparently. Even if he were fit he wouldn't have been selected. The only thing going for him is that he's a better batsman than Jadeja. Bowling wise there's already Jadeja & Kuldeep, so no point in having 3rd left arm spinner in the squad. Prasidh Krishan is more of a backup seamer for Bumrah/Siraj/Shami incase one of them has a niggle!

Hardik Pandya being ruled out is a massive blow to Team India. Perhaps we'll see Rohit playing more conservatively now going ahead.

Pak vs NZ looks more like EA cricket game rather than actual sport. Swing it and it crosses the rope. Bowlers are just useless in here unless batsmen mishits it.

Fakhar Zaman is hitting the ball so cleanly and the ball usually flies in Bengaluru. This ground is a paradise for the batters.
