Also for thai there is Bamboo shoots Museum Inn hotel @ Museum road.

A new place called Saigon has opened on Church street above Ruby Tuesday.

For kerala food there is Coconut grove at Church street.

How can we forget Koshy's at St. Marks road. The bowring stall at the IOc bunk next to koshy's for it's amazing kulfi.

For Bengali sweets and snacks there's KC das opposite koshy's and Tewari Brothers at dickenson road near Commercial street.

Taste-wise there's a smaller fusion food place near BDA Complex, Banashankari II Stage, called Casablanca. Awesome food - been our adda since school days! Its behind an equally delicious mom and pop paratha place (I forget the name).

Damn - all this talk abt good food has made me leave to lunch early now.

There is a Coconut Grove just before the Kundanahalli junction too, just as one gets off the new Marathalli flyover. Any idea how the food there is? My bro said its sad, and disuades me from even trying it out.

Talking of good restaurants at the Brookfields side, do try out Golconda on the Varthur Main road. Total stone construction, and they also have a 1st floor seating. My office being nearby, I do head there for lunch on Fridays along with my colleagues. Decent rates too.

I know of one in koramangala, one in cunningham road below in the basement next to stanchart bank, and one again in the basement opposite cash pharmacy in the building Sam mentioned for jap food. There's Casa Del Sol on top and Casa picola below. It's on residency road opp cottons school.

The golconda chimney is amazing place. At night with the planes flying right overhead and fairly isolated place nice it is.

The Coconut grove at marthahalli havent tried but found the one on Church street pretty good.

There is another eatery. You climb the small flyover(narrow one it was 2 years ago) after you ride over the ORR at Marthahalli, and immediately on coming down you see it on the left.
They have terrace resturant, and if its hot you can sit in AC hall. Great food, but no drinks.

Tewari Bros is definitely a good one....
but for bengali sweets and snacks, the best is Mishti - The taste of Bengal in Koramangala (near Maharaja Restaurant)...
Second best is Manju's (for rosogullas) in HAL market, I also like the Annakoot near my house and he prepares nice take away bengali food and cheap price....
You can takeaway food everyday from Annakoot if ur wife has gone to Maika .... it is very good and light...
I dont like KC Das in bangalore.... definitely not the one on CMH road...

There are some very good restaurants in Bangalore which serve the traditional food .......

1. Dosas and vegetarian Meals at MTR , near lalbagh..worth the wait and the travel IMO.
2. Masala Dosa and kharabath at upahara darshini, DVG road ( the original one which started the trend )
3. Adigas - in gandhi bazar
4.OLD SLV near ramakrishna ashram , down the national college flyover on LHS ( for kicka*** dosas and idly / vada )
5.Dwaraka hotel on bull temple road for Dosas...

Mag has already mentioned some other famous joints serving local food..

also there is one food street in VV Puram , sajjan rao circle , which is open late into night and you get a wide variety of good food at reasonable prices.....

7. My personal fav. "Sue's Food Place" - Indiranagar. Caribbean food with lots of great salads and sides. Crab curry on Sundays. 250 bucks a head. (225 on weekdays) Lunch only though.

8. Midnight buffet at Monsoon (The Park) is really good too. Lots of variety.

I somehow found MTR overhyped. Maybe it was the travel and the wait. The food was very good but not great. Maybe I'll give it another shot on my next trip to Bangalore.

Adigas - oh yes, all their branches serve very good food.

For steaks, I'd recommend Lazios. In fact, I've got an american friend who drags me there each time he's in bangalore, cos that's all he eats when he's here.

Another nice place is Windsor pub. Cheap booze, excellent service and food (their kerala beef fry, crab meat *****, shredded beef, yum...) You don't even have to bother with a main course. Just keep downing plenty of beer with the starters alone.
