Chipli seems to be little scratchy befor he got out. Kallis played an unwanted drive. On one side i want RCB to win atleast one and on one more side i feel DD are a good team and deserve to enter the semis

Question: How do you define a purple patch ?

Answer: Gautam Gambhir's batting in the IPL.

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

The purple patch started before that ... it started in the series down under , this is just a follow up !!

Got himself run out in a stupid manner today ... now lets see how quickly can the DDs finish it of or can the BR surprise us all by turning this into a victory somehow ??

DD complete the formalities after Sehwag gets 47 in 19

DD win easily when Shikar Dhawan bats at No 3. Why don't they sent him at tht No 3 in all matches?

Top run scorers in IPL:
  1. Gambhir - 504 (SR: 141.97)
  2. Sehwag - 385 (SR: 183.33 )
  3. Rohit Sharma - 337 (SR: 146.52)
Top six hitters:
  1. Sehwag - 20
  2. Jayasuiya - 20
  3. D Hussey - 17

Man of the Match: Sreevats Goswami (RCB), for his fifty on IPL debut .

Where was this guy? Why was Dravid hiding him?
May be Dravid wanted him to prove himself in Test cricket and then play IPL

I feel Sehwag wanted AB to get some batting practise for the upcoming matches and thats why sent him ahead of Dhawan today ... specially as at that point ( when Sehwag got out ) DD almost had the match in their pocket . It could have been disastrous as they botched it up almost but then Sehwag has shown that he can botch up as captain once too often .

Cheers

They are not utilizing their bench strength as they should be, Goswami wasted these many days, Appanna is being wasted. Misbah, Taylor, White never played in the same match when they could have.

Even now, Anil Kumble's spot in the team is wasted. Surprisingly, he took wickets today, but otherwise, his bowling is not cut for t20. White can bowl leg spin as well, Kumble has hardly been successful with the ball, there is no way white can be worse than him. Kumble concedes runs, and doesn't get wickets and in the worst case the same will hold for White as well. that makes Kumble's place redundant. They can accomodate another batsman instead, say Arunkumar.

Kallis is wasting 1 foreign player slot, he is not been that outstanding with either the ball or the bat, they should play boucher instead. I dunno why they dont wanna have 2 wicket keepers in their line up unlike CSK,KKR.

And also one spot is wasted with players like Vinay Kumar/Akhil, instead they can use Kohli and he can also be their 5th bowler, he bowls decent off breaks, and I believe Kohli is taken as an all rounder in the BRC team.

Players like Akhil, Vinay and Kumble haven't been outstanding in the bowling department. So it makes sense to include batsmen who can bowl just as well as them(it cant get any worse than conceding at 10 runs an over like the supposed strike bowlers are doing). And also who knows, they may pull out some trump cards, like some surprise discoveries in the tournament so far(Yo mahesh, Goni, Amit Misra) etc etc..

Oops! Mumbai Indians team management- Blunder after plunder-Quickies-News-Times of India Cricket - IPL

Quote:
How on earth can anyone think about making a mercurial, temperamental and controversial cricketer like Harbhajan Singh the captain when you have proven leaders like Sanath Jayasuriya and Shaun Pollock in the team should interest all RTI activists. Handing over the reins to the Bhajji in regular captain Tendulkar’s absence was the biggest blunder the MI management made. Bhajji sent Pinal Shah ahead of Pollock in the game against Bangalore when it called for some fast scoring. Even his bowling changes and field placements against Team Chennai were questionable to say the least. MI's upward swing in fortunes the moment Harbhajan was banned, can hardly be a coincidence .

Today, RR v KKR (Warne v Buchanan/Ganguly)

Shoaib Aktar does what he knows best - Sit out due to injury. This time he has 'knee' injury. Or maybe he is recovering from a 'overdose'.

Trivia:
KKR has 5 wins. 4 of those wins have come against IPL failures RCB & DC . A lone win against DD in that ill-fated match, where DD committed suicide.

It looks like KKR have the power only to overhaul 8th & 7th placed teams. So they conveniently occupy 6th position .

Diabloo, time to reverse the fortunes now, KKR can demolish top teams, only if 2 or 3 batsman stay in the middle for long, they can't depend on Sourav or Hussey everytime.

IPL winner's trophy unveiled

Quote:
The diamond-studded Indian Premier League winner's trophy, encrusted with rubies and yellow and blue sapphires, was unveiled in Mumbai by IPL chairman and commissioner Lalit Modi.

"It's a handcrafted and very expensive rotating trophy, the value of which I will not reveal. It has been crafted by Orra's design team," said Modi.
Quote:
The trophy, which has a player in gold leafing holding a bat adjacent to a map of the country with the names of the teams engraved on it and symbolised by eight rubies, was crafted by 14 artisans.
The winning team will get a replica of this trophy.

Aktar is sitting down today. Well guess he had to after the treatment he got from Suriya the other day. Well i believe KKR has the 6th place spot reserved. DC and RC are both fighting to get the 8th spot looking at the way both the teams manages to loose everytime they play.
DD and MI are fighting for the coveted 4th spot and i feel DD will make it through as you never know when MI may stumble if put in to bat first. Agreed that Suriya is in flow but remember he got a life against KKR

Shane Warne has won the toss and decided to bowl.

RR play the same winning combination.

For KKR, Umar Gul in for the injured Shoaib Akhtar . That's the only change for Kolkata. Salman Butt is slated to open with Mohammad Hafeez .

Loved the dig Shane had at Ganguly. "We would love to knock out the KKR today."

RR 69/4 in 10 overs. In quite a bit of trouble. Lets see if KKR can pull this one off. Seems like Warne's change of batting line up costed them the poor start.
