I travelled to/from Germany last week. I was able to do online checkin both the ways and yes they do ask us to enter the passport/visa details online. But it is available with Lufthansa for sure.

Thank you both. Your responses helped.

I managed to call the British Airways number and got talking to a mellifluous human voice after a wait of FORTY minutes. The issue was resolved in the next four!

We were able to check in, choose the seats (it was a Hobson's choice by then, but still...) and download the boarding passes. The frequent access of the portal + a few incorrect entries due to confusion about what exactly to enter in the last name field (ours being typical south Indian single names) must have spooked the site.

Some new learning for the next time.

Yes, you have numbered pillars in the basement of pickup area. Post arrival, they can take a lift and come down, share the pillar number with you. It's clearly marked and fairly easy to locate.

Thanks. A noob question - when I drive towards T2, do I need to look for signages for the Parking lot to reach the basement?

There are clear signages on the road towards T2. Just make sure that you are on the lookout for them and aren’t driving fast after crossing T1.

Stay on extreme right once you pass the CISF checkpoint. Pass the T1 Departure exit, then T1 arrival exit. next will be the exit ramp from the arrival aide.

The road will curve to the left. Stay right and then curves to the right. Soon after that is the T2 Parking

Thanks @ajmat and @dailydriver, found the place easily. Just followed the T2 Pick up and Parking signs and reached the basement. Each pickup point is numbered (I guess there are 18) and luckily my guest was at #18 right at the beginning :)

Could this be classified as an unusual instance of eidetic memory or as a perfect example of a Bhpian's keen road sense and penchant for directions?

Either ways, take a bow sir!

:)

I am travelling to Mumbai this Saturday. Mostly will be returning on Sunday or Monday morning. I am planning to park my car in the parking while I am gone. I am flying out of the T1 terminal. So i am guessing P4 parking is more convenient for T1. Is that right?
Also Does P4 parking have covered sections? Has anyone parked it for more than a day? Suggestions please

no covered parking in P4, park under a tree and cover your car, that's the best option.

Unfair! There should be a time set for free pickup and then a charge if at all:

Bengaluru airport: Now, cabs need to pay Rs 150 for entry, private vehicles to pay fee beyond 7 mins

Well, private players are milking the aam junta too. We’ll have to bear the brunt of their poor pick-up lane planning.

They could’ve done this once the metro was operational. Or if they increase the routes for KIAL buses, people wouldn’t mind taking them.

Anyone experienced this yesterday?

I read it thrice to ensure I was getting it right. In Chennai, private vehicles need to pay 80 as a minimum for entry rl:

Love how no one really cares about "ethics" these days in the name of privatization! (awaiting brickbats for this)

Looks like the plan is on hold for now

Saw this early today and makes KIAL management look even more silly now.

Albeit, I do feel some steps should be taken to ease the pressure at the pick-up points during peak times. It is a fact that many drivers including white-board vehicles and cabbies (private ones) misuse the system by parking for unreasonable periods, double/triple parking their vehicles with zero courtesy to others, behaving very aggressively with KIAL staff and generally creating a nuisance by honking etc.

Creates a terrible image for incoming passengers especially foreign tourists :Frustrati.

A timed pickup is fair I feel although the 'penalty' needs to be more reasonable. Nearly all the major airports have it, I don't see why KIAL cannot institute the same.

This kind of charging is totally fair. You use a resource exclusively, you pay for it. However, what is not fair is having different rates for white-board and yellow-board vehicles.
