I have to pick up passengers arriving from an international flight at T2, early tomorrow morning. First time for them as well as me. I may need five minutes to arrange the luggage and settle the passengers in the car.
What would be the ideal place for them to wait for me so that I can drive by and pick them up? Or do I need to park my car and get them to come there? |
I guess it is the same as any non airport cab pick up. Ask them to call you once they reach arrival pick up (1 level down) with the pick up point number and you can come and pick them up. They may have to wait for sometime till you come.
It is very easy for them to locate arrival pick up just exit after custom gate come outside and head one level down - all of which takes 5 mins.

T2 has fantastic and easily accessible basement parking at a very reasonable rate. You can park, walk up one level, recieve your guests and retrace your steps very easily via a lift. Thats what I have been doing for first time guests to Bangalore.

I think you can wait on the left just before the airport toll plaza. Ask your folks to call once they take the elevator to T2 basement and wait at one of the pick up points. You can then drive to the Airport following signs for T2 arrivals/parking which will take you to the basement. As you drive in to the basement, pickup points start from #18 I think (and that would also probably be closest to the elevator). As you enter the basement you’re given a ticket and when you head out after picking up your passengers you won’t be charged if it’s within 7 minutes (I think).

Thank you.
We synced our arrival times and by the time we stopped at one of the numbered pickup points, our folks had exited the airport. I ran up one level, brought them and the luggage down using a lift and we left in a manner of minutes.
Upon entering the pickup bay in our car, we were informed that one could only stay there for 90 seconds and any longer we would have to use the parking lot. But no one bothered us in the ten or more minutes we were there.
The lifts from the arrival area to the basement stop in front of pickup points numbers 4 and 18. Hence, waiting in the vicinity for elderly folks would be ideal. Better and proper measure is of course for the passengers to arrive first at the points and only then proceed there on our rides.
Thanks again to all of you for the timely help.
@
NPV, the 7 minute rule/ticket upon entry-exit isn't implemented, as yet. But you were spot on with pickup point 18.

Frankly that is not the right thing to do, you should have parked and gone up to fetch your folks. I see this happening a lot in the T1 arrivals and it creates a big mess and delays.

I understand and agree.
As I said, it was my first time and I wasn't really sure of the things. When I went up, I was under the impression that our driver would soon be redirected to the parking area, which he wasn't. It was the same case with the five-six other cars that were stopping next to the pickup points. The relatively sparse traffic could have been the reason for this.
Next time, I will certainly use the parking facility.
Hi All,
I will be going on a 1 week trip and wanted to check whether it is Ok/worth parking in the airport. I saw the charges as 600/day for the first day and 350/day afterwards. My estimate came around 3k. Is there any covered parking available? On the KIAL website, it only shows 4 wheeler parking in P4 area. Are there any other parking slots for long term? I would be flying out / in from the Terminal 1.

You can park in Terminal 2. Take lift to Arrivals floor, walk towards the left and take the shuttle to Terminal 1

I guess you could do what ajmat is suggesting but wouldn't a cab be a simpler option?

My plan was to travel to hometown from the airport directly. Was checking out the available options. Looks like taking a cab to and fro will work out economically. Also, will take some rest before hitting the road again.
KIA's T2 gets Skytrax’s first 5-star rating for an Indian airport.
Terminal 2 of Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has become India’s first airport terminal to receive the five-star airport terminal rating from Skytrax, a global benchmark for airport excellence.
With this, T2 joins a select group of airport terminals across the world that have received the highest five-star rating.
The airport has also been recognized as the 'Best Regional Airport in India and South Asia'.

KIA's T1 has held a
4-star rating for a while. The list of evaluation metrics is an impressive list over multiple areas; with T1 scoring 4-starts on several metrics (check above link for details).
Given a lot of these metrics will overlap between T1 and T2 (e.g. Ground Transportation, Transfer Services, Shopping Facilities, etc.) it'll be interesting to see where T2 scores more than T1.
T2 exit gets the famous eatery CTR or Central Tiffin Room. The OG in Malleshwaram is famous for the Dosa.

Air India operating from T2 in Bangalore is a huge plus too. Less crowded inside, plus pick-ups and drop-offs are far more convenient with the basement parking and easy access to all levels. T1 is increasingly chaotic. |
I have a differing opinion on Bengaluru T-2. For arrivals, T-2 feels inconvenient. There is just too much walking. The first toilet I could spot was near the baggage arrival hall. That means a good 25-30 minutes from the time the seatbelt signs come on the aircraft to the time to get to a toilet. I could have missed it in those long, cavernous arrival halls, so please correct this if I am wrong.
Second issue is about BMTC busses. I could not spot any information boards about the routes in BMTC T-2 bus bays. I had to ask a conductor. Also, since the busses start from T-1, pick up passengers from T-2 and move towards the city there is no visibility on when the next bus will come. Outside of T-1, you can see the busses idling and make your decision based on that.
While departing I couldn't spot a board which zone is for which airline. Many such small things which annoy me in T-2. There is too much of fancy and less of utility. Of course, these observations are based on very infrequent travels.

Not true. You come out of the bridge, move towards the place where they have electric wagons, and a toilet is right there
