Hey,this was clicked on way to Hatu Peak near Narkanda.
About 170kms from chandigarh,almost a 6 hour drive.
Can be done in a day if you stretch a bit.
@Rjstyles,can we have pictures of the wheels?

Thanks!! Have that circuit in mind for quite sometime now.
Will do it once I have a few days at hand.

Can't do a longish drive in a day with family and they won't allow me driving there alone.:(

Folks,

As a prospective owner of the Scorpio, I have a stupid question. Maybe stupid enough that I don't deserve to own one

But here it goes. I noticed that the spare tire is mounted underneath the vehicle at the back, parallel to the ground. So, how easy is it to change tires? Given the size, the wheel must weigh a lot. Ok, so you loosen a few nuts & bolts, and the spare wheel drops to the ground. You drag it out, jack up the car, remove the bad tire, and put the good one in.
Now the big question: how do you mount the bad tire back to the spare rack? Given the difficult position it is in and the weight, it should be pretty impossible to hold it up with one hand and turning the nuts with the other hand, all while you can't see what you are doing too, assuming you are not lying underneath the vehicle.

So how do you guys do it without help?

The only SUV I owned before had the spare wheel mounted on the back (like the Safari), and I never had to do a tire change on that either.

Actually there is a pulley system to raise or lower the tyre. Its operated by a nut inside the cabin space that is on the floor plate under the third row. Its pretty common on many SUV's & MUV's today.
So when you want to raise the tyre all you do is hook it up to the pulley and raise the tyre by turning the nut inside the cabin using the 'wheel' spanner.
The only disadvantage with this system is that you will have to unload the luggage inside the car while raising or lowering the tyre.
Unfortunately the one time I had to do it, was in my previous Scorpio at the highest point on Zoji-la =P

After a lot of searching for a 4wd tourer, finally took delivery of my Scorpio on Vijayadashmi (Oct 24, 2012) from Sireesh Auto, Bangalore. Had booked it in September and waited for 1.5 months.
