New Scorpio 2.6 Crde hath arrived

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share the good news with everyone here that i took delivery of my Scorpio (2.6 crde lx) on saturday and am super excited.

Spent yesterday putting new alloys and tyres, went in for a pair of yokohama tyres. Also a sony explode head unit (with usb, aux in port) and 4 sony explode speakers. got new beige seat covers put and matching mats and carpeting. a 50% sun film to reduce the heat and we hit the road. due to being short on time i havent got the bull bar and fog lamps put as yet , probaby this weekend.

I jus wanted to thank everyone on this forum for sharing their stories and inputs, it really went a long way in helping me make my decision. Special word of thanks to shankar balan for answering many of my queries.

as i was waiting to take delivery i met a prospective scorp customer , who turned out to be fellow team-bhpian.

this forum is really rocking it, lets keep it going ..

Pictures to follow soon.

cheers
Kundan

Hai Scorp Lovers,

Got some pictures of the truck that's not in my MAHALOGUE I posted about MP travels ..... thought I'd share that.

Enjoying every minute with the mean-machine....

Was reading some of your posts; my temp needle goes just near the half-way mark in about 5 minutes of start and stays there throught the short / long drives.

Happy Driving,

--Ramky

Thanks Raj. Mine is stock with just small mods

Mine is actually a LX, I have changed the moniker to DX, changed the jump seats to row seats (which I can remove when I want) and fixed in the claddings, had to change the front bumper too with the air dams, the original curved one was not merging well with the claddings. Found it not worth the trouble to have the rear wiper fitted in too; lots of changes needed on the instrument cluster, only available with the ASC (quoted 3 k for the mod), the accessary guys said they could not do it.

Yes, about the maintenance; even on a hard long trour I get my car washed somehow or do it myself first thing in the morning if noone is available. I get the regulation checks with the ASC, have painted the underchasis already 2 times before rains, the the liquids are changed more or less bang on time.

I don't think black steel rims are standard.

ohhhhhhh, i dint notice the absence of rear washer/wiper. why i asked that was because i think, DX, SLE and VLS comes with black steel rims. so i did notice that in the pics. however the DX moniker confused me. also, i remember LX used to have the split type window in the 3rd row (boot) but now they must have changed to this single unit in all variants.
yours is an exact replica of DX now except the rear wiper, good work and money saved!
but do you miss the power windows?

Yes, the split windows are gone.

This one HAS the power windows + tilt steering , what only the DX onwards used to have!!!!!

The difference between the cost of a LX and DX was 80K+, I made the mods under 25K and used the rest of the money to spice up the insides. Lots of money saved to pay for fuel for the long drives.

hi Raj,
The blaupunkt tube is of same size as your tube is. I used to have my kids rock there and they would put legs on the tube and sit...would not damage the tube as the vent is facing the rear door!
I shall try and post some pics soon for the mHawk rear audio set up!

Ramkya, Your scorp is awesome!! I liked the first and last pics.....first one-the machine, last one-the MAN and the MACHINE!! You rock.

KSingh, Scorpio is the King!! Many congratulations and happy motoring! Good choice of the car as this is an addictive beast! I am volunteering with some tips for your new car
1. Run the engine for 2 mins for the first start of the day
2. While driving try to listen to various noises the car makes, this will help us to identify and new noises or weird noises in future.
3. Read the owner's manual completely. This certainly helps! I have done this judiciously for both my Scorps.
4. See HVKumars contribution to maintenance of a scorpio/car. You will learn a feather or two from there.

Do post the pics of your ride. We all would love to see them with all the accessories too.

Jay: Thanks. It's a fight every day to keep it from getting scratched or banged and to clean away all those tonns of dust and bird-****; wish maintenance is simpler.

KS Singh: Congrats... I am sure you'd have lots of happy times driving the beast.

Anupji: Thanks, wish I could get some more leave to keep on driving.

Getsurya:Thanks man.

Your post ".....would not damage the tube...."; the boom- box is not kind the kid's ears!!!!!

Raj: The same question I asked myself. The difference between the LX and DX were the claddings, rear wipers, the last row, the front bumpers and choice colour; white not available on LX, I so much wanted the white. The cost differential of 80 K was too much, the LX was great value-for money, sold like mad during June 07 to March 08.

Ramkya, Very rightly said. I do not play loud music with my kids on the rear. Now with my 3 months old mHawk this problem is solved(as mHawk is an 8 seater!).

@ getsurya: yes, with the current setup like mine, kids can definetely sit, but as ramkya said, i turn off the basstube then!

@ ramkya: yes, you have made a wise decision. now even i feel LX is great value for money. but the only grouse is that it is not available with the mHawk engine. if tata can offer the 2.2 engine in their safari's lower variants and its detuned version in sumo grande, why cant mahindra do so?

No reason why M&M cannot do so.
I think they don't do it because the Scorpio sells well enough without their having to create any variants beyond what they have.
Why, they've even stopped offering a 4WD on the mHawk! Such arrogance! But then, Toyota also (many years ago) reneged on their promise for a 4WD Qualis; didn't hurt them!
