Posting a picture of my recent acquisition - A Swatch x Blancpain 50 Fathoms Ocean of Storms. This watch was a very impulsive buy on a recent visit to Bangalore which was enabled very strongly by my girlfriend . The dial is beautiful and the exhibition case back is the best I've seen yet. The watch looks similar to the Blancpain 50 Fathoms 75 Year special edition and that is the look I'm going for. Looking around for some good black-coloured straps - Canvas or leather maybe.

Can anyone suggest a good place to buy a watch box either offline or online? I have been looking for a box for a few months now and I am not able to find a suitable one. I was looking for a 8 or 10 set watch box.

Guys, please suggest me a good automatic/mechanical watch in 2000$ range. It should look quite attractive on wrist and have good presence (If we may call it so like road presence ). Except that no other particular preferences.

I used hmt Vijay for a long time. I was in 9th std when I got it. Used it for a solid 20 years. Them my dad used it for another 5 years.

Got myself a basic seiko alpinist automatic with a green dial and a leather strap for 20% off from Helios. A decent deal though. Have a look at it. It's a great looking watch.

This is an absolutely fabulous watch and I saw quite a few videos on it before pulling the trigger on it. I also picked this one up last month as a daily / field watch option, specially for travel etc - picked it up sometime around mid May. You should have pushed for a bigger discount I feel. I had got mine for about 30% off retail price from Ethos. Here’s a picture taken earlier this week.

@pancham: FYI. Do push them on the discount if you speak to Ethos. You should get 20-25% at the minimum. The further 5% should be store manager’s additional discretion.

Try Seiko boutique in Mall of India (Noida). They generally offer better deal than the Seiko boutique in Saket and Ethos.

Ethos would give about 20% and then you can try to wiggle a bit more. Also compare prices with Seiko dealers in your city.

Seiko watches are bang for their buck! I got myself a SRPDXXXX which is a Seiko 5 model with Nato strap a few years back. It is my daily and i love it to the bits!

Going by the past few posts here I do feel I should have checked here for discounts. Never the less whenever the next purchase happens I'll definitely check here. Now 30% will be the standard I'll gun for at Ethos.

A spring drive movement on a snowflake dial is what I'll be gunning for next. Let's see when the cosmos wants me to be it's custodian for some while. On that list also is a jubilee strap, fluted bezel gold and oyster steel waiting for quite a few years now. It's price gone up approximately thrice since then. Whenever the cosmos wants. Whenever the cosmos wants. I'll just be a custodian for some while.

The level of discount varies drastically from brand to brand though. Like Breitling and Omega are off late in the range of 8% if I’m not mistaken but nothing more than that. Also perhaps varies model to model within brands. So not that the 30% is sacrosanct or anything. But yes, still - doesn’t hurt to check with multiple dealers and pit the best quotes against each other before inking the purchase.

30% plus discount is not common. Normal discount is ~10% and Ethos is the only store offering this high discount on Seiko watches. May be they are clearing their stocks. Read somewhere that they are going to stop selling Seiko watches, but not sure.
