At one time I thought I would pick up the Tissot le locle powermatic 80 black strap + Seiko presage brown strap/brown dial for a combined damage of 1.1lacs, better sense prevailed. And herein I find myself in a pickle where I request the forum’s horologists (I didn’t even know this word!) advice.

The requirement:
- ideally 1 black + 1 brown leather strap Watch.
- atleast 1 mechanical/automatic
- brand preference of Tissot + Seiko

Shortlist:

Black strap:
- Seiko 5 Sports Automatic with black leather strap
https://www.ethoswatches.com/product...-srpd76k1.html

Would this be a good entry point into the world of automatic movement?

Brown Strap:
- Tissot Chrono XL Classic
https://www.ethoswatches.com/product...16-092-00.html

- Tissot T Classic collection
Multiple options from 25k to 31k

I would r want to spend more than 60k in total, the lesser the better. The reason for choosing quartz for the brown straps is that I want to buy the Seiko Automatic (brown strap/green dial) as my next mechanical watch. Are the Tissot T Classic Dream watches good? How long will it last and I don’t mean the battery life, more like the watch itself?

Any other suggestions from the learned members here?
I picked a Seiko 5 Sports GMT Automatic for a flat 30% discount from Ethos a month ago. Seiko Automatic watches had 20-30% discounts then. You can get either a 5 Sports Automatic or a Seiko Presage at this discount. The Seiko 5 Sports series starts from 25K onwards and the Seiko Presage starts from 38K onwards.

I see the Tissot watches with the Powermatic series starting from 55K onwards in the Helios store. You can talk to Helios store consultants and get a good deal on this. There are many options on the Powermatic 80 movement watches in Helios site.

https://www.helioswatchstore.com/tis...t0064071603300

Check with Helios/Ethos online and talk to their Luxury watch consultant to get a good deal. This way you will end up with both watches by slightly stretching your budget which makes it a good bargain for the longer run.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Here are the watches I currently own:

Right to Left

1) Citizen Chronograph WR100 - the oldest, 13 years old at this point, got it when I was in 11th grade

2) Police - not sure about the model

3) West End Sowar

4) Seiko (automatic)

All the watches above are at least 6 years old.

5) Seiko (automatic) - the newest of the bunch, 1 month old.

6) Titan Evoke

7) Apple Watch Ultra

Fun fact: I've only ever purchased smartwatches with my own money, rest were all gifts from my dad.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Not a watch fan, but this is the only watch that I own. Purchased 9.5 years back. I don't know what value it holds now but paid about 65k at that time.

Re: Which watch do you own?

The search for my watches continue. The latest entry on my list is the Orient Bambino 38. The official site in India seems to be under maintenance and the number given there doesn’t work.
Are there any authorised Orient dealers in Mumbai/pune?

I suggest you to spend 80% of your budget on 1 mechanical watch (Seiko Presage, Speedtimer(Q), Tissot PRX, or Le locle) and spend remaining on a budget one like the Timex I posted above (it costed just 10K). Upgrade second one to a Tissot Gentleman or a Hamilton Kakhi in the future whenever budget permits.

More like a Breitling on steroids. Many try to imitate but few get it right. The Breitling navitimer is still unique! That’s why I own a 1952 SPecial edition. Although branded as Breitling it really is not.

Sinn bought the rights to some of the navitimer models.

https://www.watchgecko.com/blogs/mag...vitimer-homage

Remarkable that what we commonly refer to as a Breitling Navitimer, has not really existed as such since 1979!

Sinn, is a pretty elusive brand. You will be hard pressed to find it in any shop. At least that is my experience. They have a very nice line up of watches beyond the Navitimer as well.

As a pilot, I know how to use the slide rule on the Breitling. In practice I have never used it in the cockpit!

Re: Which watch do you own?

I realized that I have been a bit too partial towards my G-Shock (Which watch do you own?) ever since I got it, so wore my 2011 Seiko automatic today, after quite a few months. Looks and feels so different compared to a Casio!

I was searching for a chronometer style watch, especially a Breitling chronometer with those green dials, and had zeroed in on one model. But I was hesitant to spend that much on a watch and Google pointed me to one of the Reddit forums discussing this Seiko SNA411 model.

This had everything I wanted and bought it. Functionally this matches or even beats what Breitling Navitimer can do. It has a 60-minute chronograph, an alarm or 12-hour dual-time function, a fully functional slide-rule bezel, a (useless) tachymeter, and a date with water resistance of 200 meters and a domed Hardlex crystal top.

But I 100% agree to Jeroen that it can't beat the beauty of a Breitling and it still remains in my wishlist.

+1 SNA411 dial is very busy, but I like it. Out of all budget options I found Citizen Nighthawk dial looks classy and good starting point for a Navitimer fan.

Re: Which watch do you own?

I Had a Xiaomi Mi Band 6 fitness tracker as my daily watch that helped me keep track of multiple things such as steps taken, sleep, SPO2, timer etc apart from the time. I lost it yesterday while traveling.

Ordered an Xiaomi Mi Band 7 fitness tracker yesterday, as soon as I realised that I have lost my Mi Band 6. I probably might receive it tomorrow.

Then, I have my late father's TISSOT 1853 which I don't wear much. I am not a watch guy per-se, but couldn't resist posting in this thread

I remember, perhaps a couple of decades ( 2 or 3 decade ago), I had a gold plated HMT Kanchan. That was an amazing watch that served me for a long time.

I am curious to understand. what's this about watch collection? I have seen many of you have multiple expensive watches. Do you really wear them or are they collector's items like art / painting? How did you get drawn into this multiple watch collection?

I don't have ultra expensive watches but I regularly wear what I have; most of them- sometimes as per mood and sometimes matched to the attire.

Of course, no question that Breitling is unique, Jeroen! I had even seen some pretty wild imitations from Stuhrling if I remember correctly.

Sinn is very elegant, and very legible too. The German brand makes some wonderful examples like the Sinn T2 Titanium & the U50 Hydro which is oil-filled (could it be similar to the Ressence?). Even the limited edition 6200 Meisterbund looked really elegant. Such a wide variety of choices, and yet relatively unheard of.
