Re: Which watch do you own?

I have been eyeing or waiting to pick up the Omega Speedy Moonwatch for some time now. Was thinking might save it for a special occasion although I was a bit undecided.

But then Omega dropped this on the 3rd of October and I absolutely LOVE IT. Can’t wait to see it in person - this is possibly my favourite Speedmaster as of now, specially with the metal bracelet and the black leather strap thanks to that contrast matched stitching.

Omega Speedmaster FOIS (First Omega in Space).

I am very much looking forward to seeing this in person!
Sharing with you a video which shows outdoors shots.

It definitely seems to be more dress than the regular Moonwatch, by virtue of its dial as well as high polish strap linkages. Keep that in mind if the Speedmaster Moonwatch is something you had planned on buying for its daily versatility.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Hello everyone.
I had been looking to buy a nice watch (my first expensive watch purchase) to celebrate my 30th birthday. I have been slogging over the last 7 years in my business and by God’s grace everything has been going pretty well. I had a budget of about 2L tops to gift myself an entry level luxury watch to cherish my coming of age.

I had my eyes set on a Junghans Maxbill Auto and a Nomos Tangente as I really dig the Bauhaus design language.
However my local Ethos dealer convinced me to buy a Baume Mercier Clifton Baumatic movement with red dial that set me about 2.4L after discount.

I would request you knowledgable and kind souls to help review whether I have bought a better watch (than Junghans and Nomos) or have just been pressured into buying something that the savvy salesman wanted.

I like the Baume a lot but still plan on getting the Junghans next year (as it’s only about a Lakh) and wear them interchangeably!

Ok I am no watch expert, but I do prefer the look of the Nomos a lot more than the Baume. It has a beautiful Bauhaus design with a lovely subsecond dial. I find other three-handers somewhat common after the beauty of subsecond dials.

However, this is a personal choice and you should definitely buy the one that you cherish!

I prefer the Junghans Maxbill Regulator 40MM any day over the Baume Clifton as there is nothing to beat the minimalist dial on the crowded pattern.

But man, you liked it and you bought it. Enjoy everytime you wear it and wear it everytime to enjoy. Even in respect of a watch beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

Re: Which watch do you own?

There is a certain joy in these mechanical watches.
Here is one highly under rated brand - Oris.
Amongst the last independent swiss watchmakers in the world with their own in-house automatic movement.
Some of their designs are lovely and their engineering precision and product quality is above reproach.
I don't own one…….yet.

Re: Which watch do you own?

My favourite is the big crown Pointer date in Blue color with Bronze bezel and steel case. A stunner of the watch. Of course the movement in the Big crown in house calibre is a much superior movement.

Re: Which watch do you own?

As a mark of my respect to Sir Ratan Tata, I was wore this special limited edition watch yesterday. Bought this watch sometime in 2018 when Tata Group celebrated its 150 years anniversary. This watch was released in limited numbers commemorating 150 years of Tata Group.

Notice, I still haven't removed the case back protective plastic sticker.

Here's the description from the official website: The inspiration chosen for the watch was the letter by Jamsetji Tata to Swami Vivekananda, requesting him to spearhead the Indian Institute of Science (formerly known as Research Institute of Science). The design of the watch is thus a juxtaposition of the concepts of time and lasting values.

Here's the official youtube video link for the watch:

PS. This watch costed me only Rupees 2795, but its value is priceless among the numerous watches in my collection. This watch will always have a special place in my watch box.

All I can say is buy what YOU like. Something that vibes with you. Sleep on it for a few days or even weeks. Go back a few times to the store and hold & wear the watches again. Don't be rushed into it. All the best.

I would suggest a Longines Hydroconquest. Longines is an extremely underrated brand with a very long history. I would tag it as one of the most essential "quiet luxury" brands.

The Hydroconquest, while being a diver watch, is quite versatile. You can treat it as a dress watch as well and with a leather strap, it can become your everyday driver.

Personally, I'd recommend getting their green bezzel black dial 41mm one.

+1 for Longines!
I spotted someone wearing Conquest (latest one) green dial recently and looked really classy.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Did anyone try out this watch? Has separate dials for hour and minute hands. Looks interesting.

Nice to see Longines fans here. I just got this last month:

38mm Conquest. The sun ray blue dial just tempted me and I swiped the card at the Longines store in Delhi in a flash.
