Where did you buy your HMT Pilot? Its not listed in the HMT website.

There are some really good looking HMTs on Amazon under "Discover Diamonds". Are these genuine products?

Hi,

Got it from the HMT website(old website). Ever since they have launched the new website, there are no mechanical watches available. I heard from a source that they don't have the parts anymore that's why they are not updating them on the website. Please stay away from discover diamonds, they are not genuine.

Re: Which watch do you own?

As I had said in my last post, I am done with Automatic and Handwind watches whose cost of fixing exceeds the price of a new watch itself.

Re: Which watch do you own?

I purchased this watch, back in 2015, when i realised that the cheapest Seiko watch on sale(this) was cheaper than getting a replacement movement/service for a Seiko diver.

Which watch do you own?-img_20230322_185433.jpg

Idea was to take it to my local watch guy, have him gut this watch and swap out the movement from the entry level Seiko divers of that time which took the same movement.

However, this watch endeared to me and has lived to tell the tale-its quality is much better than anything from the HMT stables, it scratches my Timex weekender itch and is very inconspicuous.

Lovely color, excellent watch!
It is a mixed bag. For this reason, got a Seiko Kinetic, and the charge cell died. Now it sits idle. Then I got a Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster. Even its charge holding cell died after 5y. Same. My automatics, are still doing alright.

Yikes this is what I did not want to hear ! This one is also from Promaster series. It comes with a 5 yr warranty. However I found out with my last Seiko Automatic it is pretty much useless as they always manage to prove that watch underwent trauma.

I do have a tendency to bang the watch against corners of cubicle/table/chair/walls. Hopefully this one will be more on rugged side. Now I think if I should taken a G-Shock and called it a day.

Citizen Promaster collection, Eco-Drive Solar Power movement 200m Divers watch BN0157-02E. Got this one during a sale. It was launched quite a few years ago and as new releases are looming they are offloading these ones via sales.
A word on the finish. It is brushed steel. Slightly on the distressed yellow side. They have given it a tool watch look. Do not expect the shiny chrome finish we usually see on dress watches.

Re: Which watch do you own?

Hi! Can anyone tell me if buying a mechanical or automatic watch from brands such as Tissot, Longines, etc will be cheaper in Singapore vs price in India? If yes, does Changi airport has good collection? Or which will be a good place to buy?

Not bought a watch from these brands recently, but from what I remember it was much cheaper in Singapore, compared to the cost in India.

At Ethos & some other stores like Lifestyle, some Tissot watches come with a brand discount, you will have to check on that. Longines hardly has any discount, even if they do its minuscule. So perhaps Longines might be marginally cheaper in Singapore.

Re: Which watch do you own?

After using the iconic Casio Tough Solar - DW5600 and then the Fitbit Charge -2 for quite some time, charging that Fitbit once every 6 days, came down to charging it every second day. Enough with the charging!! I finally decided to get an automatic watch.
Since it was my first time buying an automatic / mechanical watch, I was not sure of my crossover from a purely digital to a mechanical watch, hence did not want to spend too much. The Seiko SRPE55K1 had a lot of positive feedback on the internet and to me it looked just lovely. It gives me just the only information I ever needed from a wrist watch - time, day and date.
Already purchased a NATO strap to replace that metal bracelet.

I would say it is not a cheap watch, but among the lowest priced automatic watches out there. MRP is Rs.22,000, I got it at a discount of 10% at the Seiko Boutique located UB City

Re: Which watch do you own?

My love for Japanese brands grew multifold after learning about Casio G-shocks.
I bought the time tested watch CASIO G-Shock G-5600UE. Although I was about to settle for DW5600, but after extensive comparing of the module, I realized the tough solar model would be buy and forget types one. And yes it stands true!

The Tilt backlight function and rapid charging makes me grin every other day. It 12 mins of Sunbath to go from Low battery to High Battery status!

P.S. My girlfriend still nags that you have purchased a kids collection watch. I just smile and prefer to be mum , for I know, I wear a piece of heritage!

Your midnight Fog looks awesome...Waiting to grab a feel someday.

Oh, this has been through its share of banging on multiple surfaces, been through water almost every week and has been scratched and licked and chewed on by cats and babies (and cat babies).

All it takes is some rinsing and it's back to being the beast. I don't even mind not using the Atomic timekeeping feature, seeing as the Tough Solar is absolutely worth every rupee.
Exact feel with me too. I wont require any watch unless its stolen.
