Did you realize that this is Prized Catch? They are not swans, they are Bar Headed Geese. They come over to south India during the winter. And here we never get a chance to shoot them with chicks. This is one of the rarest Photograph of these birds since it is with Chicks. These birds fly over Mount Everest. And photographers are crazy here to catch a glimpse of these fellas. Mysore is one of the place you can see them during the winter. They breed in Himalayas region, mainly Tibet and Mongolia. Discovery/Animal planet had a program on these birds about their Migration Pattern. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks

Thanks for the information Shree, seriously I had no idea what were these birds.

After I realised they had chicks I clicked a few more pics. There is another bird nesting on the rocks. Cant be a seagull, a fresh water sea gull maybe?

Again heavily cropped.

Edit: Thank you Samurai, All of us Yatris just got lucky I guess!!

These were taken at the Alipur Zoo at Kolkata. The squalid conditions the birds stay in was more of my concern then.

Here are mine

i agree Photos of birds with eggs in their nest and with chicks should be avoided as birds are sensitive and they may abandon their nest. as most nest are build in most camouflaged way, to take a photograph few people may disturb the leaves, branch offering the protection and this may expose the nest to predators.
