Alright, it is time for a new theme. This time there is a twist, we have decided to rise the degree of difficulty.

The Theme: Dominant Color
Period: Dec 1st 2009 - Dec 15th 2009

Not only your image should have one dominant color, the main object of the image should be of the same color. That means a white flower in the middle of green grass won't do, even the flower needs to be green. You can have traces of other colors here and there, but only one color should be dominant, and the main object should be of the same color. You can have different shades of the same color though. B&W shots don't qualify because this about color. Also, don't change the color using post-processing.

Let me give some examples...

This qualifies since green plant has green background.

This doesn't qualify since the statue is black in a mostly blue background.

This qualifies despite the dark window because the room itself is the main object.

This doesn't qualify since the central object is not the dominant color.

Does this qualify?

I am not exactly sure why a dominant color cant be in the background and not on the subject.Dominant = takes up more space in the picture, and when you look at the image, if u ask yourself what color is it, you feel its that color, hence its dominant. So in the statue pic you posted, blue is still "dominant". Just my thought.

TG.

TG, it doesn't qualify. Neither does my statue pic. The idea of dominant color theme doesn't rely on contrast between different colors. I put up examples only to eliminate such doubts.

One color should totally dominate, and the main object should be of that color.

How about this

Samurai,
How about this. Does it qualify.

I guess you will be overwhelmed with people like me asking this question.

Samurai, I feel this subject is not very clear to understand for everybody.
I think you should post an example with explanation for everybody to get a clear picture (pun fully intended) .

I will try to give a few examples

However all I have is white.
When photos are one dominant color, that should literally shout. For example, if you look at these images, the only thing which comes to mind is "white!"
The Official Theme Photography Thread: Festival Spirit-687130974_ipbjhl.jpg

This image is borderline, but still somewhat qualifies
The Official Theme Photography Thread: Festival Spirit-686036105_nixrwl.jpg

Rest of these are white.

Regading the cityscape posted earlier, it has a tungesten hue due to white balance setting. It does not have a single dominant color. Its merely a "warm" shot.
Below I post another boderline case. The tighter crop could have qualified as "green". but due to the horizon, it does not quality

Actually the black grill spoils it for the theme, However if the pic had been taken from farther away it would have made a better candidate for the theme.

Traces of other colors are OK as long as they are not the main object. Otherwise it will be too tough to post anything.
