Yes, the contrast should be achieved by shades of the same color, that is the most important aspect. Other than that I can't think of anything else. Keep an eye on white balance and exposure, for certain dominant colors your camera may not be able to measure correctly. Some color and WB correction may be needed.

None of these qualify. There are atleast 2 dominant colors in all these pics.
For example first pic is lot of blue, with a shiny orange as the mail subject
