Actually it is a pretty standard theme in most photography theme competitions. Yes, it is a little advanced concept. What is the point in just having one more image thread.

Krishna, it doesn't qualify. Black is the dominant color, but the sun isn't black.

Picture quality is not that great as it was taken by a cellphone camera. Though I hope it pertains to the theme of dominant colors.

The picture is a riot of colors. The orange caste is more due to the white balance of tungsten lighting, rather than actual orange color.

True. But the interiors of the place (Tipu Sultan's tomb) is done in varying shades of orange and yellow. The incandescent lights added a nice effect to the entire color scheme.

I see that lot of members are still confused about the theme. You have to pay lot of attention to composition too. Please check the following link for better ideas.

Samurai,
From the samples on this site, I think what this theme means is that there may be some objects with other color but there should be one color which catches attention and also the subject should be of same color.

Commenting based on this example which has secured second place in this competition.

You are right Deepak. But members are still posting subjects of different color than the dominant color. See the red rose photo from SamtheLeo in #654.

Here are few more from my side which are appropriate for the dominant color theme.

These photos are from Antelope Canyon, Arizona. Its a slot canyon formed due to soil erosion during floods. Second photo should give you an idea of the scale of this canyon as there are few people seen there.

Sharath,

Based on the above comments, I still feel that my photo goes with the theme, as the viewer attention is drawn towards a single dominant color (of that of the sun) , though it is no dominant in terms of the pixel it occupies.

In my opinion, the dominance of color is to do with how people will perceive the photograph than what is actually on it.

regards
tifosi.
