Re: A guide : Eating out in Kerala

There is a restaurant named 'Thakkaram' at Vytilla, Ernakulam by the side of NH Bypass offering North Kerala fare. For novelty they have a TATA bus parked outside the restaurant, which seata around 16 persons. The bus, they said, would be air conditioned shortly.

That bus reminded me of the "Ee Parakkum Thalika" movie

Re: A guide : Eating out in Kerala

Had dinner today at Delicia Malappuram with wife and kids (4 people in total)

1. Aoli (Pomfret) mango curry: as usual awesome.

2. 10 Velliappam

3. 3 Keral Porotta

4. Thai chicken: initially was skeptical, but turned out to be quite good.

5. Ikora tawa fry 2 pieces: average.

All in all a nice experience. The restaurant is in the heart of the city.

Total bill came to Rs 872/- highly reasonable I would say.

Highly recommended. It's my 5th time.

Food is also good - not the usual stuff that goes around as Malabari cuisine these days!! Very interesting menu options, extremely nuanced and delightful flavours for their special dishes. And very reasonable prices too

You can try Grand Hotel for Kerala cuisine which is about 1 Km from Ernakulam Junction railway station.During weekends it will be bit crowded.

Re: A guide : Eating out in Kerala

Have been to Shine at Adivaram before Thamarasherry Churam last weekend. Their special Mutton Tawa Fry is a must try dish, I'm a popular fan of traditional Kerala dish hence liked this one as well. I was told the only ingredients used were black pepper, cumin and salt and no other fancy masalas.

Cheers!

Kindly post your review on Kettuvallam and Lulu Food Court. If the later was bad, please ignore the fact that I recommended it.

Re: A guide : Eating out in Kerala

Friends, I am travelling to Thrissur tomorrow-31st August. For breakfast, there is the dependable Bharat Hotel. Pl.suggest some good Non-Veg options for Lunch. I would like a place serving Fish curry with rice. Looking to get the taste of the famed Kerala Karimeen Fry.

Try karimeen pollichathu at first floor of reachus / navaraymna on naduvil aal junction, just after the titan showroom. Ground floor serves only veg.

Go to Luciya Palace or Central Hotel at Chembukkavu. They have excellent fish curry meals. Im not sure if the recent closure of Bars have impacted these two restaurants also.
