Shami is as clueless a bowler as it comes. Someone like Umar Gul. He just loses it when he starts getting hit around.

Sure. But in this series, he has 14 wkts @ 36. While the great Ishant has 9 wkts @ 48. He takes one wicket per 51 balls while the great one takes one per 83 balls.

And even more important he is inexperienced and hasn't played 60 tests. So there is still hope that he will learn.

You really need to look at the kind of wickets he has taken. I can vividly remember 5-6 of the 14 being taken when Aussies were going hell for leather and batsmen were being caught in the deep trying to clear the field. No hope on Shami as of now. He needs to go back to domestic cricket and work on his game.

Ishant was clearly India's best bowler. He has had very little support from the other end and that shows up in the wickets column.

Meanwhile in other news, the Records for Fastest ODI 50 & 100 are bettered by AB de Villiers off 16 & 31 balls respectively.
This is also the first instance of three 100s in a single ODI innings. India came close to that record in Jaipur ODI against Australia.

Well, Ishant can't even take wickets when someone is going hell for leather.

That is our main problem.

Absolutely amazing knock by AB
The pitch at Johannesburg seems to be flatter than pitches in India.

He got out at 149 from 44 balls, would have smashed the record for the fastest 150 by a mile. Record is from 83 balls.

IMO, SA are the favourites to win the World Cup

Re: The Cricket Thread

It feels good to see that the record now is created by a deserving batsman and in a proper 50 over ODI, Corey Anderson's record was made in 21 overs a side match. Amazing thing is that he bettered it by 5 balls.

I would like to see SA winning the World Cup but the pressure of being favourites is too much to handle for them.

But as of now they look far better then other teams barring New Zealand.

For me NZ v SA would be a dream final.

Four Semi-Finalists would be SA, NZ, SL & Aus/Ind.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Wow, India got hammered by England today. The only positive is see is - MS and his guys get 2 weeks of rest. Dont know if they are coming back to India or staying in Australia - I fell they should return back for a week or so.

Tough to see this Indian team winning the world cup. But stranger things have happened and from the quarters onwards - it's a 2 horse race - so who knows !

They should ideally have come back to India but i don't think they are going to as the warm up game is on the 6th or 8th i believe!

We are nicely prepared for an early World Cup exit.

It will be a miracle if this team can even reach semi final. Disaster is only thing I can see from current performances.

Re: The Cricket Thread

See, we will definitely reach the quarters (at least we will beat all minnows or all but one minnows and west indies). After that it's only three matches to win the cup.

Let's hope for the best.

Problem is none of our batsman is in Good form. Rahane can stabilize but cant win matches on his own. Kohli blows hot and cold. Raina is sitting duck. Rayadu is no good and even Dhoni has lost his touch.
Cant believe I an saying this but we need Rohit sharma back asap as he is still doing good recently.
As for bowling we all know how pathetic it is so no hope there.

I hope we reach semi atleast and win against Pakistan in our first match.

Re: The Cricket Thread

With the pressures of a knock out , anything can happen. And India may face Srilanka in the quarters. And with the amount of cricket we have played against the Lankans- the Indian players by now must even know the Lankan players personal likes and dislikes !1

One team I cant see winning absolutely is Pakistan. Horrendous batting - their game is so 80's or 90's. They are completely out of sync with the modern game. It's tough to see beyond Aus, NZ or SA.

A true marketer's dream semi match up would include - India, Aus, England & NZ. That's where all the moolah is !!

Agreed. To make the semis, India need to have the luck of the draw and face SL in the quarters. But for that India have to be 1st or 2nd in their group.
Australia and New Zealand will most probably be 1st and 2nd in the other group.
