Re: The Cricket Thread

Woah Bangladesh has pulled a rabbit of the hat, what a brilliant last wicket partnership!

Bowlers just kept bowling short, not even a single Yorker tried, where in Shree Shree Rahul, dropped a catch with gloves.

Re: The Cricket Thread

K.L Rahul should have been awarded Man of the Match for his contributions in both the innings.

In the first half, had batsman Rahul not scored those crucial 73 runs, India would have struggled to move past 150 and Bangladesh would have won with plenty of overs to spare.

In the second half, had wicket keeper Rahul taken Mehidy Hasan's catch, India would have won the match rather comfortably. Mediocre fielding + unimaginative bowling in the last few overs only made matters worse for India.

Cricket fans and broadcasters(mainly) must thank our wicket keeper batsman for stretching the match close to 90 overs.

Thanks to Rahul, He just proved the doubt was genuine by dropping a sitter

Pak vs Eng 1st Test : Interesting day on the cards tomorrow.

Just looking at the scorecard, England seems to going all out for a win. 264 runs in 36 overs and a brave declaration .

No surprise if Rahul leads the team in the 2023 World Cup, Shikhar is wasting time and so is Rohit Sharma. The so-called resting policy of BCCI can be tried out in the Corporate world as an alternative to layoffs. Rahul may have caught that ball if not for the gloves he donned as a wicketkeeper.

Re: The Cricket Thread

KL Rahul turned out to be a saviour in today's game.

He saved India by scoring 70 odd runs.
He saved Bangladesh by dropping a sitter when they were 9 down.

That will be an absolute disaster. The man is an incredibly talented batter, but always comes across as unsure and jittery.

Remember the SA tour, where we lost all 4 matches in which KL was leading? Even our usually restrained coach Rahul Dravid admitted we didn't play smart cricket at crucial times

He was never catching that ball even with a fishing net. Letting down the team in crucial moments is kind of KL's thing.

Re: The Cricket Thread

I don't know what's happening with our cricket.

Everything is bizzare - the squad selection, the playing eleven, the batting, the bowling, the catching, the absence of direct hits - we are at a nadir.

Statistically, we have had the best year of cricket ever but nothing seems right. I hope Binny has the spine to take some tough calls.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Tendulkar and Dhoni had set a bad precedent by sticking around even after their prime period, now Rohit and Shikar are following the legends to deny opportunity to young cricketers. This kind of attitude will demoralize the young players waiting to play for Indian team.

Re: The Cricket Thread

The moment I saw that Rohit, Virat, Dhawan and KL were *All* playing this game, I kinda knew that the game was going nowhere and we were going to lose.

KL did his best to delay the inevitable but also kinda helped hit the last nail in the coffin by dropping that catch.

Whenever I even tried watching, something went wrong. Thinking that me not watching might fix things, I shut it down but they still found a way to screw up.

Things need to change and they need to change fast of we have any chance at the next world cup. Virat might have found his peak but unfortunately the rest don't deserve their spots as performers. It's time we looked beyond these people.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Looking at Rohit's captaincy.. Virat looks like a King now and Dhoni almost an Emperor.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Didn't see the match, but was reading about an article that talked about Rohit abusing Washington in choice words for not attempting a catch. Was it a takeable catch?

Rohit is getting too much importance, people in BCCI seems to lack courage to tell him on face that his days are over. Since 2015, we have lost one WC final, thrice thrashed in the WC semifinals, humiliated in Asia Cup and Champuons trophy, what else is left with Shikhar and Rohit to give more opportunities.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Like a broken record fans keep repeating to sack both Rohit and Dravid but BCCI is asleep and will only wake up when IPL comes to count their money. So, get used to of these humiliating losses.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Our team surely needs some young blood in the team, especially for opening slots. But BCCI just can’t see past Rohit, Dhawan & Rahul for those positions. This is just terrible stuff, always makes me think how unlucky a guy Rahane is to get an axe from the test team.
