And now they have lost the second test and with it the series. This performance strengthens India's chances of qualifying for the WTC finals.

Unless Sri Lanka wins all their remaining matches and India loses all ours, it would be India and Australia that are top two based on the matches that are remaining in this cycle.

ICC website has a predictor that can be used to evaluate different scenarios and see the standings.

How do they finalize Final's venue. It is again happening in England.

If SL win both their matches against NZ, we need to win atleast 3 matches against Aus.

Those matches are in NZ. I doubt SL can win there.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Hi everyone. I intend to visit India for the test series against England in early 2024.
Does anyone know the likely venues for the 5 test series?
I also intend to visit some of the grounds the MCC played at in 1933/34 and will be travelling by motorcycle, so it would be useful to know the proposed test venues so i can plan ahead.

Regards,

Mitch

The schedule including the venues are announced 3-4 months in advance, so very difficult to predict. If I were to guess, Eden Gardens, Kolkata will be one of the venues specially because it misses out on Ind-Aus tests. Or Bangalore, because it is home of the new BCCI chief Roger Binny.

Pant injured in accident

Apparently he dozed off and car hit the divider, car looks in bad shape.

Wishing him a speedy recovery but this year probably is gone for him.

Going by the pictures and the on-site video, this could have ended a lot worse. He was pulled out of the burning car by smashing one of the windows by people.

As per doctors, he has a fractured leg & might also need plastic surgery. Hope he recovers well and returns to field soon. He is one of the better keeper batsman we have had after MSD and not to mention, a matchwinner.

Terrible news. Hoping and praying for his speedy recovery. BCCI has committed for best possible medical support. Is there a mention on how the accident took place? Post event pictures suggest the car was almost burnt to dust.

It's being discussed in the accident thread, the video footage is already out, and car was at high speed, with no visible fog. His statement is that he dozed off while driving.

Re: The Cricket Thread

As per doctors of Max D.dun, he is out of danger, but it will surely take him time to come back to field. Big loss for India ahead of the test series against Australia as he has been our best test batsman for a while. Big void to fill for sure.

I wish him a speedy recovery and hope he will again come back as a wicketkeeper-batsman.

Re: The Cricket Thread

What a tame end for the NZ-Pak test.

With Pak 7 wickets down, NZ were clearly the favorites. Post declaration, it was heading for a T20ish like finish. Alas bad light played the culprit.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Read somewhere that Pant is out of action for 6 months! Thats a massive blow ahead of the Australian Test Series since he has been our best test batsman since the pandemic. Our batting somehow has become the weak link now with Virat & Co. not at their best.
