Re: The Cricket Thread

I seriously have no clue why KL is even in the team?
-The guy can't bat in T20s, ODIs or even Tests.
-Can't keep wickets
-Is no bowler
-Is not a lightning-fast fielder
-Has no recent red-hot form
-Has no solid past records to back his place either

What merits his place in the team?

All the more weird when you know that a player like Gill in red hot form fresh off the NZ series is right there.

Oh well, who are we to know what goes on in the minds of the Captain and Coach.

All is well, all is well.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Rahul doesn't deserve to be in the team especially with Gill around. Rahul is mediocre in comparison to Gill.

I think if he continues to fail, this could be his last test series, especially given the form of Gill & Mayank. In T20s, I feel that selectors are already past him.

He is F&F of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. That is good enough reason I think.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Not surprised by KL’s inclusion or his failure yet again. Even Australia would be happy about his inclusion instead of Gill

Re: The Cricket Thread

Day 1 of the Nagpur test:
After so much was said and written about the Nagpur pitch, curator, etc etc, it didn't seem like it was doctored to specifically target the left handed Aussie batsmen, am I missing something?

I thought the Indians started the bowling well getting the Aussie openers quickly before their solid duo of Labuschagne and Steve Smith steadied the ship and the Indian bowlers had to work hard to get the rest of the wickets, no ?

His name & state aligns well with the coach

At this point the Aussie media will whine, moan and clamour about the sun, the moon and everything in between, if that can stray the eyes from their abysmal performance so far.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Selective watering of pitch is not new, definitely not in India.
I distinctly remember the Chennai pitch in Ind-Aus 2013 series where this was done by the Chepauk curator. This was first test of the series I think. And Dhoni smashed a double century in good time while many where complaining about the 'poor' pitch. It did look odd coloured/textured but one cannot call it a poor pitch if one batsman can score 200+.

In this case, I find many former players, BHPians already calling it doctored pitch before even play started on Day-1. Thats absurd. Don't go by how the pitch looks. Lets see how it plays. Let the match complete and then one can assess if indeed it was poor pitch and whether it was doctored on somebody's request.

Re: The Cricket Thread

With Sky gone, this match is in the balance. We have squandered away the advantage, not for the first time.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Rohit has played brilliantly for his 100

Especially with the score reading 178-5.

What's frustrating is KL, Pujara, Kohli & Sky were all soft dismissals. Surya getting bowled the first ball he played against the turn & Kohli getting caught down the leg side first ball after lunch were incredibly frustrating. Both were looking good.

Ashwin batted well. Hopefully Jadeja can stick around with Rohit for sometime. I'm expecting a good showing with the bat from Axar, since he went wicketless in the first innings. Also praying KS Bharat does better than Surya in his debut innings.
