Rohit Sharma becomes the first Indian to score hundreds across Tests, ODIs & T20Is as Team India captain.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Brilliant innings from Rohit but rest of the batters disappointed. And as has been the case quite often lately, bowlers are doing a bulk of batting duties as well. Splendid 50 by Jadeja after the fifer, he is having a dream come-back match here.

The last recognized batting pair is ON currently with Axar looking a bit sloppy. 21 overs to go for the day. Lets see if we can make it to the end of the day.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Both Jadeja and Axar scoring fifties makes a point to the visitor's media talking about the pitch being doctored against the left hander's in their side.

I think the point has been made to a lot of folks here at home too who clamoured a lot about pitches. The pitch is fine. It is the batsmen and their temperament.

Re: The Cricket Thread

How did that so called ‘incident’ of Jadeja using the ointment get brushed away so easily? Sydney Morning Herald has been quite terse with their view in their column and here, we don’t even have a whisper?

Think i remember seeing a news snippet where both of them had to explain to the match referee about that incident and it was decided it was not "illegal".

Irrespective of whether he was at fault or not, I thought he should have been more careful with such things after having seen what happened in the 2018 "Sandpapergate" test match.

For professional players like him it shouldn't be difficult to understand how to handle such delicate things, especially with all the cameras focusing on players from every corner.

Absolutely, they could have waited for the over to finish or Jadeja could have applied it while the ball was not in his hand. The lubricant substance(ointment in this case) was passed by Siraj, and that means he might have got it from physio on boundary rope and more than few people were aware about the situation.

Re: The Cricket Thread

The scheduling of this test match has been perfect - Day 3 and Day 4 on weekend, so that people in India can watch their team (hopefully) get a result.

144 lead but with just Shami and Siraj to come, I’m hoping to see if India can somehow manage to stretch the lead up to 200. The more the merrier of course.

If they get bowled out with a lead of 150-160, then it’s not going to be very comfortable. I see people say Aussies won’t make 250 on this pitch, but batting is generally easier on day 3 and first couple of hours on day 4, so I don’t see why they can’t set a target of 100-150.

Hoping for two good days of test cricket - I don’t want to keep glancing at my phone for the scores on Monday in the office.

Re: The Cricket Thread

A superb effort from the Indian batters on a difficult track. Australia will have to bat really well to avoid an innings defeat.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Anyone else getting annoyed by the dark-ass policy bazaar ads on Star Sports during the match? I'm not even married and I still get anxious watching that lady talk to her (dead) husband's portrait.

Re: The Cricket Thread

And it’s a wrap. The Aussies look very bruised. Each of them look lost. They look angry. And they will be left searching deep in preparing for the next matches. It’ll be hard for them.

One big step ahead for India now.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Didn’t expect Aussies to fold this easily. I just hope the Indian camp doesn’t become complacent for the next few tests.
