Re: The Cricket Thread

brilliant bowling by Jadeja and Ashwin, got us right back into game.

KL rahul gets the australian team back in game almost immediately as reciprocation.

If this guy plays again Rahul dravid should quit as coach.

Why Rohit Sharma shouldn’t quit as captain?

Re: The Cricket Thread

KL Rahul has done his job. His innings took care of the first innings deficit. His job is done, now for others to do theirs.

Because Rahul Dravid is overall boss and should be running the show.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Most balls are not even lifting toe height. It’s just rolling after pitching.

Aside, who from the Aussie think tank have told them to ‘reverse’ sweep their way out? Almost every batter was trying to do so. Aus has a lot of homework and reflection to do, to understand what caused such a bad collapse.

I just found out that even Mark Waugh has played 128 tests for Australia. I need Sanjay's confidence in my life, trying to explain the feeling of playing 100 test matches, while standing beside two legends who've been there done that. Manjrekar, Murali Kartik and Akash Chopra (Hindi) are the cringiest commentators on the Indian scene.

Meanwhile Australia have committed harakiri with the bat. Khawja, Smith, Renshaw, Carey, Cummins & Murphy were done trying to sweep/reverse sweep. Labuschagne went back to a full ball and got bowled & Nathan Lyon inside edged trying to slog. Only Head and Hands(comb) got out to good deliveries. I'm not complaining though. The intent was there, but the over reliance on the sweep shot caused their downfall. Now I finally understand, why my club coach always says, "If you want to sweep, go play for the BMC"

Earlier the way Ash set up Head was quite spectacular. He threw a half volley outside the off stump, which Head drove to the boundary. Then Ash followed up by bringing a catcher at short cover, but bluffed Head with three top spinners that went on with the arm, all played by Head to his credit with a straight bat. And finally he bowled the ripping off spinner which Head played the same way as the three early straight balls. But this one turned and took the edge and Bharat completed a smart catch. Exhilarating stuff on a Sunday morning!!!

Edit: Rohit is run-out
This is more frustrating than KL getting out cheaply yet again. Did Rohit sacrifice his wicket for Pujara who's playing his 100th test? He better hit the winning runs today.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Great show Indian team, great to see Bharat also scoring in high pressure.

Throw out KL Rahul and Get Shubman Gill, this team is perfect.

He did hit the winning runs with an uncharacteristic lofted shot

Kohli looked solid till he got out both innings.

Same for Iyer.

Rohit looks in majestic touch.

Puji is back being Puji.

Bharat showed what he can do.

Jaddu,Axar,Ash are as usual awesome.

Throw KL out and get Gill in. Simple.

4-0 is INEVITABLE!!

Edit- Make Ash VC. He is smartest guy in the team and no one deserves it more.

Re: The Cricket Thread

What if KL hits a 50 in next say 4 innings? Is he going to play another 10 matches and torment us? We have lost a chance to fight for WC because of him.

Re: The Cricket Thread

More than Pujara am happy to see Bharat the way he batted. Its very important for him to chip in with the bat as well if he wants to have a long haul.

KL should step down if he has some shame left. India seems to be playing with 10 members for now

I don't see him playing again, if he does it will be saddest day for indian cricket in near future. What a loser, If I was him, I would haveonly told selectors that I am going back to play Ranji/County and will be back soon. This guy is hell bent of getting humiliated on national tv.

Re: The Cricket Thread

What a win, Jaddu's 7 for 43 was amazing and as I expected, Australia folded up for a paltry 113 after getting to a rather strong 65/1 overnight!

He is being backed by the coach, captain and management, they clearly said that today!

I'm expecting our selectors to do the silliest things like dropping Bharat, continuing with KL (but as keeper), and maybe on the positive side bringing in Gill as an opener to partner Rohit.

Re: The Cricket Thread

From Times of India

Struggling opener batter KL Rahul has retained his place in the Indian team for the third and fourth Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 against Australia. Interestingly, he has not been named vice-captain.

India sticking to KL Rahul like Australia stuck to sweeping today.
