Re: The Cricket Thread

We lost 4 crucial runs on that last hit, thanks to the hit-wicket. Will it prove determinantal? As per commentators 168 is par score on this ground. England definitely would feel they did a decent job restricting the star batting lineup to under 170.

Less said about Rohit and KL the better. These two have been walking wickets in key matches. If we somehow win this, hope they atleast click in the finals. Waiting to see what everyone wants to see, a INDIA vs PAK World cup final

Re: The Cricket Thread

KL Rahul getting out early and India playing defensive cricket to overcome the early loss. KL is a player of inconsequential matches. Much better if Pant or even DK opens. Or even Kohli. KL is a liability- hope he is dropped if India reaches the finals but that's a distant dream. No team will prefer to alter their openers before a WC final. I think KL's playing position to a certain extent has helped him stay in the team, else he doesn't belong here.

Thanks to Pandya and Kohli, India posts a good total despite batting slow initially. Looks like we are having Ind vs Pak finals.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Well this looks like going down very fast. Indian bowlers are all looking clueless.

I don't see any wicket falling anytime soon.

Re: The Cricket Thread

This looks like a lost cause. The English openers are playing smartly and brilliantly; one four or six every over and a good healthy run-rate of 10 runs (min.) every over.

Not taking risks and the body language is extremely confident for chasing the target they feel is possible. I feel we lost the game in the toss. A high scoring location (during the pitch report, it was mentioned 160 is not going to be enough) - batting second is key.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Indian bowlers are like - No matter what, I won't get you out. My guess is this is going to be England not out.

There is simply no motivation in the bowlers. Hope they realize that this is a T20 WC SF and not IPL.

I see fatigue and lack of fire, especially in the first few crucial overs ! And by the time they realised, it’s almost done

Re: The Cricket Thread

Good lord!!! that went down pretty fast. The openers are making our bowlers look like gully cricketers. A very one-sided game this is turning out to be. Looks like even our players have accepted it, body language is as if they are just doing a formality of seeing through rest of the overs.

T20 world cup campaign ends here. This team never looked intimidating and its very evident from this match. Its not just a defeat but a shameful defeat

Silver lining: We are spared from the shame of having lost to Pakistan in a WC final

Bowling without Bumrah looks toothless. Batting is once again dependent only on Kohli and to some extent SKY these days. Openers are a joke at this level in current form. But no worries soon IPL will be here and everything will be forgotten.

P.S: Except for English folks, everyone would be sad. Even Ravi Shastri sounds mellow & rightly says India will have to look at a new team a young unit, fielding unit. The final match viewership just went down by 50%

Oh my god. How far off can I get.

England looks like playing against a school team here.

Just goes to show how our batting is simply not tuned for this format.

Hence proved. Yet again. There is a similar pattern in NZ and Ind innings wherein openers had put pressure on followers. We should be happy and lucky that we have played SF.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Incredible batting from England openers, well played!
Hope they can replicate the performance in the title clash. All the best England.

And have a safe flight back home IPL Superstars .

Re: The Cricket Thread

And with that the prediction of a 1992 WC repeat is almost coming true.

Back in 1992, Pakistan barely scrapped through to the semis and they beat NZ in the semis to make it to the final to face England. Same is the case here. Plus Pakistan have won the last 3 matches in dominating fashion after losing the matches prior to them. They are definitely the top pick for the final, if you ask me.

Lack of fire with the bat in the powerplay.. Lack of fire with the bowl in the starting over.. We should play only IPL..
Frustrating loss. KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma should quit playing international T20s.
