Re: The Cricket Thread

I expect KL to contribute with bat like last two innings so that it will be a set platform for SKY to launch. KL should stop opening gate to allow the ball to crash the stumps during powerplay. That look he gives after losing out his wicket is so horrifying that it spoils the mood of watching our batting very early in the innings. I have already ruled out Rohit and Hardik's contribution with bat. So a lot is dependent on him for the most important match of his career maybe.

Re: The Cricket Thread

The team was almost boarding flight to home and now are in finals. Pakistan should thank Netherlands for this opportunity. SA would be kicking themselves.

The chase looked somewhat like the match Pak won with India without loosing a single wicket. Babar and Rizwan back in form is great news for them. Babar was dropped in 1st over itself. That’s not expected from a disciplined team like NZ.

If India manages to reach finals it will be an insane atmosphere. Am sure except for the English, everyone else would be rooting for India tomorrow for a cracker of a final match Sunday

Re: The Cricket Thread

Frankly, I don't expect much from KL. He is an all or nothing player. Either he scores big (against smaller teams or in inconsequential matches) or he gets out cheaply (mostly in important matches or against strong teams). Nor do I think this is the most important match of his career. He has the backing from coach and team management who seem to be happy with his above pattern of scoring.

I expect all depends on SKY who is in the form of his life and Kohli. We need Kohli in his aggressive self with the inherent desire of domination to fire in both the matches if India are expected to win.

If we reach the finals, then it has to be the batting that wins it for us. Pakistan are a team that is well adept at restricting the opposition to 160 thereabouts which then let's Babar and Rizwan play at their own pace.

Let us see how it goes tomorrow. SKY has a good record against England so hoping him to click. Again.

Re: The Cricket Thread

An interesting parallel drawn on social media between 1992 and 2022 World Cups, with respect to Pakistan:

Re: The Cricket Thread

Batting First, this makes it that much difficult now, our bowlers start looking clueless if they are hit in starting of a chase.

Hopefully we can post 180+ anything below and we are pretty much going to struggle.

Re: The Cricket Thread

And just as I thought, KL Rahul has done his part.

Unless we see some serious hitting in the next half of the innings now, I think it will be an uphill task to win this match.

We are going too slow at the moment. 11 Overs and we are still at the rate of 6 only

Re: The Cricket Thread

With Surya gone there is no covering for Rahul and Rohit's failures. This is Game Set match. 140 odd on board and I predict the 2nd innings as mere formality.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Judging by the way Indian innings has unfolded so far, the pitch doesn't look like a belter as opined during pitch report. The pitch seems to be assisting spinners pretty well. 160 - 165 looks defendable and anything above 150 should be competitive. Fingers crossed..

Re: The Cricket Thread

I do feel that 160 could be a winning score. Question is, will we get there?

If these two stay, we can reach 160 for sure.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Top class hitting towards the end. I think we have a fighting chance. We have 2 good spinners who could hold the key.

Plus if Bhuvi gets his bunny early on.

Re: The Cricket Thread

All I want is for Ashwin to effect a run-out with the non striker leaving his crease early.
