Quiet informative
Also is it better to buy shoes with laces or without?
Most people i see these days buy shoes without laces(leather shoes specially)

Much better to buy shoes with laces. They are more adjustable to the width of your feet. Also make sure the toe box of the shoes is adequate for your feet. Do not try and squeeze your feet into something that is too tight.

For children always get quality shoes that fit them well. Not sure about in India but in the UK Clarks do good shoes for kids as they do different widths. Geox are also available in variable width.

+1
I have developed a little 'hallux valgus' because of this.
NEVER wear shoes that dont fit comfortably. If its tight, dump it. Period.

Ishan, those shoes are available off the shelf in BLR. Look for an Adidas Originals store near you.

Converse Chuck Taylors High top

Got myslef a pair of Converse Chuck Taylors high top shoes. Are a tad difficult to wear if you are not used to high tops but once on feel good and am like don't wanna take them off.
Also while driving long distance in them my feet felt a little tired as there is no arch to support the ball of your foot.

They were featured in will smith's I,robot. Here'a link to the same.

What should I look for? regular running shoes? hiking shoes? anything else?
so I bought adidas sandglide trail running shoes, mostly because they were on sale. immediately learnt that running shoes should not be used as daily wear if bought in correct size. i went half size up because I felt they were too tight. now while running I wish I had not gone up in size, will work ok with thick socks and tightening laces though.
