Awesome scoop. I am already getting a decent mileage in Delhi else I would've started carrying a 20L can to the pumps here too just to make sure!!

Edit - cant edit so here's what a friend said:
Quote:
My friend who worked with IOC said tht bunk people are not salaried guys. they are hired just to save petrol from users and the one who dispenses least petrol and brings in more moolah gets incentive....scary but true...ek andolan chalao and make india like other countries where u dispense ur own petrol.
Can be rumor or what but I personally think there's merit in self-dispensing. Its MY money

There should be some control unit from GOVT who will do such checks right ? where are they ? what are they doing ?

Why does it take a TV channel to expose this stuff ?

What happens to these bunks now ? ,will they be shut ? or heavily fined ?... no answers ,only questions , it repeats again and ppl will forget until the next scoop .

If you want to try new petrol pump when you shift to new place/office try to go with 2 liter coke bottle and ask him to fill as you need it badly as car is struck somewhere in middle of the road. If they refuse bluntly then there is some issue in the petrol amount dispensed. 2 Lit bottle will act as a measuring jar
If he fills also it would be easier for you to judge how much you are losing

Nothing is going to happen to these bunks. They would continue business as usual and we the customers inevitably face the same day after day. As such most of the people knew what is happening in these bunks but the problem is that we are helpless in challenging the petrol bunk owners or the attendants since the attendants in these bunks behave like goondas and it isn’t possible to challenge them when you find out that they are doing some misdeeds. I tried challenging them on few occasions but invain. I find Shell petrol stations to be more authentic than others and I try to fill petrol only from Shell.

The T.V channel has to be commended since it brought out the real situation and rightly called the petrol bunks as PETROL MAFIAS.

Shell is the safest bet for all.

+1 to that. These days, I see even diesel 3 wheelers and trucks tank up at Shell which is further testimony of Shell fuels being better in all counts compared to other providers in spite of being slightly more expensive. I always stick to normal Petrol or Diesel at Shell as far as possible.

^^+1 to that. There have been no bad experiences with Shell so far and I have filled a lot many times from them now. They also assisted me with a flat once. Great service.

+1 to all who say Shell. I have stuck with for both my car and bike ever since they opened their bunks. Even in the period when Normal was not available. I drive an extra 3-4km to fill up from them. Never faced any issues to date.

I too watched TV9 ch yesterday on petrol mafia. One bunk dispensed only 300ml for 3lts. What a robbery!!

BTW, I've been filling from BP in old airport rd [opp to manipal hospital]. How's it?. Is there a shell bunk in old airport rd? I think there should be one after marathhalli.

Jungle rule

I read this just couple of days back.
The gist is. if you are honest and good, and are expecting the world to be equally good to you, it is your mistake. It is like, if you are confronted by a lion/tiger in the jungle alone and if you are a vegan, expect the tiger/lion not to devour you.

They are one of the best in Bangalore. Never had issues with them nor have I heard any complaints about them. They are open 24/7. The other good 24/7 BP is in Jeevan Bhima Nagar near the police station.

Another +1 to Shell. I drive 8 kms one-way to reach a Shell bunk.

I don't mind the distance as I am assured of their quality. The mileage of both my cars has also been consistent since I made the switch. The only drawback is a slightly higher price when compared to the PSUs but hey, am not complaining!
