Re: Longest Drives!

Mine was from Chennai to Kochi (and return). Have done this (including the return trips also) 8x in my Zen MPi, 2x in our Logan 1.4 GLX and 4x in my Verna 1.5 VGT, in between the year 2012 - 2017. Was in between 670 - 700km, at all times. The best time with the Zen was around 13 hours (6am - 7pm) and around 9 hours (8am - 5pm) in the Verna, including all fuel & food breaks. On all drives, around 100 - 150km was driven by my wife. We consider the drive as a stress buster!

When the efficiency was checked during the trip, on the Verna when she drove (which was at a maintained 80kmph), it returned an average of 18kmpl, but when I drove it dropped to 14kmpl.

The roads in Tamilnadu are a driver's paradise (especially the stretch from Ulundurpet to Coimbatore), due to the excellent divided roads most of the way and the relatively sparse traffic but once we enter Kerala, average speeds come down drastically both due to traffic and not-so-good roads. I feel road quality in Kerala has improved in the recent years, but there is still to catch up to reach the level of Tamilnadu, as far as the highways are concerned.

Re: Longest Drives!

My longest drive in a single day has been about 617km. It took me about 6:35h of driving time, plus a couple of stops.

This came during the last day of our trip to the north of Finland. We covered about 1180km during the last 30 hours of this trip, including an overnight stay. The total driving time was just under 14h.

The entire trip was a little bit less than 3000km, spread over 10 days.

Re: Longest Drives!

685 kilometres, Aurangabad-Mumbai-Aurangabad, completed in 13 hours in Tata Tiago. I was skeptical about completing it as I had never driven more than 400 kms in a day before. But I was able to complete the return journey comfortably. At the end of the day I had enough mental and physical energy to do another ~300kms. This experience has reassured me about taking multi day cross country road trip in future.

Re: Longest Drives!

The longest stretch I have covered in a day is Udaipur - Chandigarh in winters. 894 KM done in 15 hours including all breaks. Had to slow down a bit after sunset due to foggy conditions.

Your Longest Drive in a day

Mod note: Please use Search before opening a new thread, and continue in an already existing one like this one. Thanks.

This is my first "new topic" in team-bhp. Mods please move it to appropriate place if this is not the right place.

All of us love cars and especially the feel of driving a car on the highways. what is the longest drive that you drove in a day as one driver or more drivers. Please indicate the number of drivers as well.

As for me, my longest one day drive (alone) is around 680km from one side of Bangalore to the other side of Hyderabad through the beautiful ORR of Hyderabad.

Mods, please create a poll if possible.

Thanks

Re: Longest Drives!

Did Ooty Mumbai non stop last December in my Abarth Punto. This was approximately 1200+ kms and not originally planned as a non stop drive. Started around 10 am and drove leisurely through Bandipur tiger reserve, even stopped and tried for a jungle safari as the plan was to stay in Bangalore for the night. Reached close to Bangalore around 7 pm and decided to push till midnight and reach Hubli/Belgaum so there's less ground to cover on last day of the trip. Beautiful cold weather and amazing traffic free NH4 was very refreshing to cruise around 80-100 kmph mark and we eventually ended up in Mumbai by 9 am next day.

Sharing a picture at Rameswaram from the same drive

Did you drive it all by yourself? Liked it when you mentioned cruise at 80-100 kmph in an Abarth.
I have never done more than Goa- Mumbai [Bicholim - Chembur] in one single drive. That is hardly 700 KMs I believe.

Yes buddy, it was just me and my wife on the trip and she doesn't drive, so all the more drive time for me. Abarth is quite comfortable and fun to cruise leisurely on long highway trips and we have ended up with some close to 1000 kms trips in a day (Mumbai - Bangalore, Mumbai - Ajmer).
