Quite a coincidence. I too did a 'solo' Hyderabad-Chennai drive with just my dog for company. A few short halts for walking him around and thats about it. Took me 14 hours since I had to be sedate with the speed. Kruger (my dog) would be up on the seat at any hard braking. Left at 6 AM and reached Anna-nagar at 8 PM. The route I took was Hyd-Vijaywada-Chennai.

The road via Vijayawada is at least 80 - 100 kms more and that is the reason it took more time. But I should admit that this road is in a good shape than the one which I took. BTW, I too came to Anna-nagar, to be more specific Collector Nagar.

Re: Maximum distance without a break

My driving statistics of long distances in September 2011:
Maximum distance without a break-vitalstatisticsofmydrivingtoleh.jpg
All these stretches were driven by me in my Linea with food and fuel breaks. The stretches 1,3,5 and 6 were covered without any intervening power-naps. The remaining ones were covered with 2 or 3 intervening power-naps of each 30-40 minutes duration. I used to have a power-nap the moment I started yawning.

Hi Ravi,

How did you manage this trip in a Sedan? Did you not face any issues going over those terrains?Sedans bottom out over our famous Bangalore's speed breakers. So just wondering.

Cheers

My Linea bottom-scraped more than 50 times during my Leh expedition, but all those impacts were well-absorbed by her sturdy engine guard plate. For more details, see my travelogue.

Now, most of the official speed-breakers constructed by BBMP are scientifically made with trapezoidal section comprising up ramp, flat portion and down ramp. So, no worries!

Re: Maximum distance without a break

Hi

Nice thread - I have a few without break drives:

1. Goa to Ahmedabad - 1200 Kms took me 20 hours averaging out to around 60 - great roads from Sankeshwar to Pune - Excellent toll road from Pune to Panvel - Congested crossing from panvel to NH8 Breeze drive from Mumbai to Ahmedabad except for the Narmada Bridge

2. Delhi - Ahmedabad - 987 Kms - 12 hours using NH 8 - NH 76 - NH 79

I did it in my Honda City

Cheers

Re: Maximum distance without a break

Shouldn't this thread's title be "Maximum distance without a "Stop"?

Once, I covered 400 km without a stop in 6 hours by my humble Santro. I drove Surat to Abu road without any stop (not even for tea, smoke and nature calls). The only time I stopped my car, was at toll booths.

Re: Maximum distance without a break

Broke my own earlier record, drove 675 kms from Kanyakumari to Bangalore i.e. 675 kms in 12 hours (8 am to 8 pm) back in Jan 2020 in my humble Baleno.

Re: Maximum distance without a break

Pune - Panna (1250kms - 17/18hrs non-stop on good days and 20-21hrs when I have encountered traffic) many times each year. Same method for return.
Vehicles used for Pune - Panna
Scorpio SLE
Aria 4x4 Pride
Swift ZDI
Gurkha

Hyderabad - Panna (1300kms - 15hrs, negligible traffic due to lockdown and great roads too)
Vehicle : Gurkha

All above travels completed with family

Re: Maximum distance without a break

The maximum I have done was 6.5 hours without a single break . Multiple factors including a deadline made me do that. But I was not enjoying the drive after 3 or so hours. I almost always take a 5 min break every hour as a normal.
