Mine is something like this:

Two Wheeler : When I was 16, on an Ind-Suziki taught by one of my courageous friend, who sat behind (unhurt!) for the entire strech of Athirampily falls route in Kerala - a highrange route with some good blind curves..

Four Wheeler : at 27, Learned myself, on M800, few weeks before my marriage, since I didnt want to take a driver for honeymoon..Ofcourse it was a safe drive and my wife didnt know during that trip that it was my first long drive!!

Got used to City-driving in Bangalore in 2004, in Airport Road, which is easily THE BEST road to master the art!

age : 18 (Dad ABSOLUTELY refused to let me learn to drive before that)
tutor : Driving school - Hegde (Jayanagar)
Car : round Fiat
City : Bangalore South - Jayanagar area.

Was dying to learn how to drive a car since i was already riding a two-wheeler for about 3 years before that - used to ride my friends bikes. Dad enrolled me for driving lessons on the day after my 18th birthday. On my 18th birthday, I went and booked my first two-wheeler - a Kinetic Spark.

Age: 6
Tutor: self, with school bus driver.
Car: Toyota Mini School Bus.
Location: Kuwaiti freeways.

The first time I drove the bus I had to stand between the driver's legs & he changed gears & operated the brakes. I just steered & accelerated.

Then I grew a bit taller & used multiple pillows behind my back to bring me closer to the controls, almost half standing. Drove Mom's 1979 Buick LeSabre automatic with my driver, who I would buy ice-cream & chocolate for as a 'bribe' (though would end up eating them myself!). Took Dad's S Class (slushbox again) for spins with the same driver too, only when he was out of town on business. We had to watch out for cops as we'd get seriously busted if spotted.

Got to Bombay at 10 & used to drive Dad's W123 LHD around the building basement parking all by myself, & also to various garages, etc. for any work on the cars. That's when I really learned how to manoevure.

When Mom's 800 came in 1986, already had years of driving experience under my belt & it looked & felt like a toy! Zinged that thing all over Pali Hill, Carter Road, Bandstand & Mount Mary.

Finally got my licence in 1990 through a 'motor training school' & proceeded to officially terrorize the sheep like driving population.

Mods: Need to add the age groups 2-15 to the poll as well!

Learned driving along with my brother who is two years older to me. It is when i was 14 yrs, parents bought a M 800, but no body knew driving at home except my mother used to manage to drive in calm roads.
This was a good reason for me and my brother to learn driving.
