2-Wheeler: Bajaj Chetak
Age: 11 yrs. ( 1987)
Tutor : Elder bro ( he was 15 then)
Location : Faridabad

I remember I was riding it the first time after taking verbal lessons and Bro was sitting behind. When we reached a dead-end , he asked me to apply brakes to slow down and I replied "where are they?".

4-Wheeler: Mahindera Jeep
Age: 12 yrs. ( 1988)
Tutor : None ( Experience of riding a scooter came in handy. I just did mapping in mind about accelerator, brakes, clutch). and it was obviously in 1st gear and a few yards back and forth.
Location : Faridabad

After a few days my grand-father ( May his soul rest in peace) wanted me to take him to some place ( aprox 10 kms from my home). I was scared and told him upfront that I had not driven even 2 kms at a stretch but he forced me. On the way, I told him that I was worried that we would hit somebody... he looked at me, smiled and said "don't worry, i'll take care of it.. just make sure we are safe".. boy. i did that 10 kms safely but even thinking about that is spine-chilling.

Hell yeah, faithless, you got that right!! I picked up enough grocery, chicken, meat & fish in that 1 year to start a supermarket of my own! Talk about child labour!!! Think I'll go ask them for compensation now, as a sort of 'out of court' settlement...

A point I forgot to add in my post, was that ever since I learnt how to drive 'till I got my driver's licence, I didn't have one scratch or accident on the car. Three days after getting the darned licence, I drove over a cyclist on the sea face!! $%^%$#$
(Don't worry,, it was the M800 & he was fine when I saw him last).

I learned driving when i was in 6th std. My driver secretly tought me how to drive on our TATA ESTATE. i write that in bold because at that time it was the longest car to maneuver and i felt proud of myself. since i had trouble with the judgment due to my hieght, i use to sit on a 6" cussion that i specially got made for my seft from a local tailor without the knowledge of my parents. You won`t believe but when i use to sit on the cussion i had trouble with clutch. I wasn`t able to depress it fully. i use to shift gears when the clutch was half pressed. My driver use to shout whenever i did that but he knew i couldn`t help it.

My learning time was when i use to get dropped and picked up from school. Touch wood i never had an accident till date.
