I don't mean any offense to you guys, but in my country 115-125kph is considered a normal highway speed. The typical highway speed limit is 105kph but everybody drives a bit faster. On Interstate 90, 130kph is pretty common. I top 150kph relatively casually in my beater maybe once a week.

I understand that we're talking about drastically different vehicles here. You guys seem to have a lot of very small-displacement cars, presumably for city fuel efficiency. Believe it or not, I wish they offered that stuff here.

Multiades, it's not only the cars. All these speeds are mostly done in single lanes i.e. one lane for each direction with no divider in between.

A few roads might be 2 lanes each way i.e. 4 lanes.

Not only that, unlike US freeways or highways here allow anybody i.e. people, cattle, bullock carts.

My max speed is 170kph on a Mitsubishi Lancer with a 1.5L engine and 88bhp.

While doing speeds beyond 80kmph we really have to concentrate and be ready for anything in our path.

it's a lot of fun. like an adventure sport.

Some small vehicles are available in the USA too. I believe you can find Suzuki Esteem, Hyundai Elantra kinds. Kia sells some small cars too, probably like Rio.

Buddy, there may not be small cars as many as the big cars in US, but there are quite a few of the small cars, you better do some research on this.

These are few cars you can check, but dont get dissappointed they still can have good top speeds
chevy aveo, ford focus hatch, honda fit, hyundai accent, kia rio, .... to name a few more,

I can't think of a single car available here new with less than 100hp, and 1.5L is the absolute bottom of the displacement barrel. Maybe 1% of cars have that small an engine.

You'd be hard pressed to find many cars with less than 2L engines, and most have >150hp. Heck, my 13y/o cheap-*** beater has a 1.8 with 127hp. If I could find a cheap 1L car that weighed under a tonne, I'd be all
over it.

The new compact cars that are basically the smallest stuff you can buy are the Toyota Yaris and Honda Fit. Both have 1.5L engines with a bit over 100hp, and weigh ~1100kg.

Point taken about the roads, I was just curious.

Although there are still motorcycles there that are faster than any car I'll ever own.

@Multiades, assuming you never been to India, here the talk about achieving speeds above 100kmph becomes a matter of pride since the highway conditions are not comparable to the US ( I love driving on Mass Pike) and we need to have nerves of steel and super human reflexes to be prepared for whatever that may come in between the road, following are some examples that is extremely endangering to live

1) There is no such thing called studious lane changing, though highway drivers are becoming more and more educated now

2) Cattle crossing the roads since we pass innumerable small villages when driving on highways

3) 90% of the highways do not have a divider in between so incoming and outgoing can swerve, slide into whichever lane they want

4) People,bicylists, motorcyclists just entering into the main highway road from the exit without any signal

Having said that, our roads are rapidly improving and acheiving those speeds is a matter of thrill and pride to us. I have personally touched 175kmph in a 1.5 L diesel car having 82bhp and looking to improve
