hehehe. trust me, the car can go and achieve more, my friend has taken it to 175 I think. Which was scary !!

But I did 160 only for maybe 15 - 20 seconds, at a stretch where the road was absolutely empty.

I am not sure of 120-140 corners on a tall boy design as the Santro. Santroiets do you swear by the car at that speeds on highway bends? no matter what rubber?
Here is a 4-minute video of a guy consistently doing 150-160 on the speedo in a fully stock 2004 Sanro Xing:

This video is a beautiful catch because it allows us to compute his actual speed as measured by the time shown on the video and the trip odometer. Here are the readings:

****************************************
Time (min:sec)-----------Trip odometer (kms)
----0:18---------------------72
----1:10---------------------74
----2:01---------------------76
----3:20---------------------79
----3:45---------------------80
****************************************

Overall distance done is 8 kms in 3:27, i.e., 207 secs. This works out to an average speed of ~139 kmph. But if you see the video, the speedo read never goes below 150 kmph and hovers between 155-160 most of the time. So even going by the odometer reading, there is a substantial speedo error. You can compute the averages for other periods shown in the above table and it remains close to 140 kmph; time take for 1 km varies between 25 and 26 secs. Which is the Xing's true top speed in fifth gear, assuming this guy was in fifth. So there is a speedo error of about 15 kmph in my estimate. But this is assuming video is in real time and trip odometer readings are fairly accurate.

metropolis ,
what tires are you running. am curious as I did not want to go over 160 on a flat road as I was on 165s.
And what makes you think that a stock Ikon cant do that speed mate ?.

During our drive to Yelagiri, if you remember brraj's ford did speeds of about 180 or even more. His ford is bone stock.

I clearly remember my speedo was showing 180kmph , the Ikon ahead of me and Rahul and this ford Ikon only seemed to gain more distance from our car's.

Looks like Ikon's have a real good top end

All I know is brraj's car is REALLY quick. I remember it was lurking ahead of a couple of Baleno's & a VTEC on a recent drive. And I guess all the speedo's read above 170. If nothing else, I would say the car is QUICK. Irrespective of what the speedo shows.

If the speedo is giving error then the tire dia must be less which is causing more on the Speedo and the OD reading must be more also which is causing the error greater...I might be incorrect here.
