I believe the odo is very much dependent on the speedo. if speedo has an error, it is passed on to the odo also.

@LBM and E_L: In the present case the Santro Xing is stated to be completely stock. So there cannot be any speedo error due to incorrect rolling radius. The speedo error could have been deliberately introduced by manufacturer, as I believe is the practice at higher speeds. In which case there does not seem to be any reason to introduce the error in the odometer also. I believe that only the speedo errors due to incorrect rolling radius will be passed on to the odometer

You can see for yourselves that the calculated average speed is only about 139 kmph based on odometer reading, which is not consistent with the 150+ speedo readings throughout the period.

My Top speeds have been with scorpio 120 kmph Pune-Mumbai highway, It was slightly scary as the Turbo engine throws too much of power (>100hp)
Swift - Gasoline - 110 kmph Madurai - Kanyakumari - NH7 with ABS amazing control. No plans to overcome these on Indian Road.

Overseas - It has been Chrysler 300 on Pennstate Turnpike didn't bother much about the cops it was 100 mph. It was a driving pleasure - Apr 2007.

Jaguar - Over a week all over PA, NY, MI most of them time over 120-125mph.Wish I have the control of 'life' /'wife' like that !!

I have Accent 1.6 @ 102 HP DOHC and it's speedo is till 200 kmph. and i needle was full down, It was 200 kmph plus. Don't know how much it was. I did it on Greater Noida Express Highway.
People are surprised to hear that but it's a fact. It's due to the fact that Hyundai Accent 1.6L have the best Gear Box among all the cars in this segment. It's gearbox is tuned to maintain high speeds at high rpm.
I did it when CNG was not installed on my car. With CNG my car ran at 185 KMPH.
Here is the Proof for CNG :

Hyundai Provides the most powerful GearBox with awsome gearshift ration which helps you people to boost out.

You wont believe, but it's a fact... I had race with Civic ... 2 different people and 2 different time but same highway.

One of them was my friend and another a fast driver.

20-150 kmph drag. Civic couldnt beat me even once. Infact we were running almost parellel. 3 times i was in my car and 2 times my friend was there in my car and same result.

2nd instance with that fast driver... Once i crossed him at 130+. He was after me like anything as if i slapped him by overtaking him. lol he was angry on be. We were again running parrelel and he was chasing me... It was a full fledge power testing of the engines. He couldnt came ahead of me, we both crossed 200+. On that time i was busy in racing with him so couldnt make the video. lol it was a long time back now i have CNG Installed and on Delhi Road i follow traffic rules not running more than 60 kmph. If by chance it happens I made a habit to apply brakes to come back to 60 kmph.

ON road drag with my friends cars Aveo Gone, Civic Same Power, Optra Gone, Honda City vtec Gone, Baleno Gone.

Accent Tornado was 1.6L DOHC but it was the older ver. Mine is Accent GLS 1.6L DOHC with ABS. Tornado don't have ABS.
My engine is an upgrade of Tornado's Engine. and No MODS in the car.

lol yeah now a days there is a MOD in my Car CNG Kit lol.

100 mph on my chevy silverado 1500 4x4 between San Antonio and Aransas pass ( the engine cut out automatically after that )

135 Kmph on my tempo trax Judo 4x4 on Madras Bangalore highway. The engine was screaming (about 3500 rpm ) and did not want to push beyond that.

120 Kmph on my Bullet 500

60 kmph on my honda unicorn

I love this thread. Powerful GearBox with awsome gearshift ration to help you boost out. Man, I wish I had something like this.

Incidentally, are you related to Nivvit Bhasin?

@Spawner, you have beaten all these cars without a mod in yours? I have driven an accent 1.6, but I was surprised to find the lack of response from an engine that claims 102-103 Bhp. Maybe I was driving a car whose engine was not in that good shape.
