re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

It is Cochin customs. There were many other cars in here including Chevy Corvette, a damaged Hummer (flat tyre, missing chrome grill, broken glass) and many other exotics. Felt sad when I saw them.

Corvette is not there in the pics he posted. Any clue where did it vanish?

I did check it out over the weekend and on inquireing with a few guys came to know this is the U.P. used car. This car belonged to someone else and did not have clear paper and the owner i not known. Sad but true this car would rot into the ground till then.

No idea where it vanished. I saw the pics few years back. It was a Silver Corvette. Also, I guess the hummer was the first in Kerala but he couldnt take it out due to some legal problems.
Also had few limos, Jeep, Cadillacs and the usual merc amg's. I was shocked to see the kind of cars that people in Kerala had imported. Too bad their dream wasnt a reality.

Ah! The infamous Defender lying by the side of the NH near Thalassery. The car looks almost as bad as the road itself!! What a waste!

I'd posted pictures of this vehicle in the LR thread sometime back.

The corvette was a white Ron Fellows Edition, with red stripes. Any clue what happened to it?

I really dont know the names of the roads, but if you are familiar with Bandra you would understand, let me try using landmarks. If you take a right from Funkies and head down the slope towards Mini Punjab there would be a gelato store (i hope this is the one.) on your left just after mini punjab, thats the right you need to take into the lane and just the second or third blding on your right you will see the car parked outside. I hope it helps.

They do put the cars for auction. There is a time frame procedure to that is followed and after which depending if the owner pays or disputes the amount mentioned by the customs the car either is released or dies a slow death.

The first pic is a dead give away...a chevy
The second ends with ...ALA

I'm guessing a chevy impala
There were quite a few of them in India in the 70s
