Regularly see a white old model Audi A4 around Golpark.

Just 2 days back saw and took pictures(will surely upload pics) of a brand new (WB 06B 9XXX),massive,snow white BMW 730 Ld with huge 18" wheels.Had a chat with the driver,who parked the car in front of our hospital,came out and started making 'khaini'.The car is reportedly owned by a Jute baron staying and working near Ballygunge Phanri.

Also saw quite a few of Mercs and Beemers in front of Domestic Terminal of NSCB Airport,couple of nights back.

Got a new beast in town...the SL63 AMG.. Have to keep eyes open. Belongs to Bobby Nobis. People in/around Alipore, keep a watch.

Lads,

A piece of old news -please make use of it if possible!

I had met a gentleman living in a large house on Ballygunge Circular Road sometime in 2001-02, who wanted to sell his black Rolls Royce Corniche II (fixed head) coupe, circa 1979. He had a red ( or maybe cream) Porsche 911, parked in his compound. On questioning him as to why he wanted to sell his pristine RR he told me he preferred open top cars and that he drove his Rolls very carefully and after 10 pm about once every week, when the traffic would be sparse.

After going over my boyish enthusiasm for a Roller, he very politely told me that it would not be a very good idea for the RR to be my first car!

In any case his asking price was beyond me.
He was also taking this car on a train to Hyderabad for a family wedding procession

, so probably he is in some way connected to the Nizams there.

I really don't know how this will help Calcutta's bhpians but there it is.

Shamik i would like to correct you once again his name is Babi Nobis and not Bobby Nobis.I don't think anyone wouldn't like their names twisted.

Amit i have seen these cars for my self more than once this year.But i would like to differ with what you say about him driving a Tata Indica which is not at all true.He has a red and white pajero ,a black chevrloet spark,and a Accord V6 (new one).He uses the pajero to travel in most of the times.

Babi has been a car nut for ages, in Calcutta passion is of legends. I remember he came sloshed to our place one night in the 70's to buy a Ford Cortina. Saw the car by switching on his car head lights and the deal was done. Next I saw his crazy ways when in the 90's he had a red lexus convertible and on sundays he would take the car out with his dogs in the car and him running ahead shouting move out of the way in new alipore. He has always had this notion he has to have the best cars in Calcutta.

Lexus has a fine horn for honking and alerting people ahead of the car.
