we need camcorders/handycams!!! it would be wonderful to shoot all the cars going along the curves in a line. There are some curves in which the last guy would be seeing the first guy going in almost at 180 degrees to him!! it means 'U' shaped curves and there are some 'S' shaped too.
I will be in touch with the co-ordinators over phone and will inform u about my exact location once i reach there. Anyways, as I mentioned before, it will be difficult to miss the ~25 car convoy that early on a Sunday morning.

I completely agree with u raj - all the cars moving in a line on a curve will look superb in video, specially if we can plan and all of us can keep our blinkers on during the turn, it will look fabulous.

Who is going to there in the lead car? I'll find out from raj tomorrow morning.

Some other things we can do to avoid unnecessary tension for everyone -

- Have a couple of fixed stoppage points...let's say @ 50 Milestone or maybe a known Dhaba or something like that.

- Decide on the starting sequence before starting and identify the car in front and back of you and ensure that you dont lose sight. For guys in the front means slowing down till the time you dont see the 'tail' car in your rear view mirror again and for the guys at the back, you need to catch up to the guys if you lose sight of your lead. A bit difficult at times during crossing areas with heavy traffic but this ensures that we dont lose anybody from the group.

- Decide on your car buddies (Lead and Tail) and ensure that they are there when you are there!

- Last but not the least, a big responsibility for the End car is to ensure that no one gets left behind!

@ Mobike008 - Weather courtesy www.accuweather.com. I've found them to be pretty accurate (even in our country!)

Oh yes for photographs, would recommend stopping at one of those U-Turns that Raj was mentioning where you see the lead car coming in at 180 Degrees and take a Wide Angle picture.

My Digi Cam supports videos (640X480 @ 30FPS with recording limited by card size) so i can take take videos en route (Actually since i would be driving it would be my wife shooting the videos). Then we can always share it along once we stop. If someone can get a laptop along....then we can also view it real time!

See you all tomorrow.

raj, good rules.....to ensure that people stick to them, if anyone looks to break the convoy or the rules, they will have one very nasty black beast (aka Safari Dicor) snarling down their backside .....just kidding!

But seriously guys, lets try to drive in a convoy, it is great fun.....all those who have done successful convoys earlier wouldvouch that it needs really good driving skills to maintain a convoy.....any fool can speed up on an empty road, the real test is to drive keeping the limitations of all your buddies in mind. Lets give it a shot.

I believe these are from AccuWeather.com which are pretty good accurate and can be trusted. And i have this as my FF Add-on as well.

And its 10 Hours to go... Looks like this would be one of the biggest Hyd meets. Anyone getting laptop(s) along ? I would love to have live updates in this thread as you keep going as i will be missing the drive tomorrow. See you all at the Starting Meet Point

Hyderabad July Monsoon Drive ( 06/07/08)-EDIT NOW WITH PICTURES

I am just back from one of the most loveliest Hyderabad team-bhp meets ever as i always do the detailed write-up, i am kind of tired of the doing the same, so this time going to keep it short and sweet.

We were expecting over 20 cars and 40 people but, quite a few folks dropped out in the last minute so finally there were 13 cars. 3 bikes and about 35 people

For the first time ever, we all met and began on the meet journey on-time. We all were supposed to leave the meeting point at 8:30AM and finally our convoy took off for the drive meet at about 8:45AM.

Following are the people who made it to the meet

1. Freakster + Wife ( brand new ABS Verna CRDI on Saturday)
2. Mobike008 + Wife ( Viva Crdi)
3. Theodre_ftw + Wife ( Zen)
4. Kkrkk2 ( Passenger seat)
5. Rider60 ( Viva Crdi)
6. Hunterz ( Fiat Palio)
7. Furioussphinx ( Passenger)
8. Suren181 + Prabhu + Suresh ( BMW 525D TDS )
9. Solly + Wife ( Palio GTX )
10. Btirthankar ( Toyota Innova)
11. Hillram + Kid ( Tata Sierra )
12. Nosfreak + Dave (Alto)
13. Naveen + Wife + Vikram+ Wife ( Palio S10)
14. 9TMax + Wife + Kid ( Maruti Omni)
15. ravi @ 64bhp ( ZMA)
16. kutlee ( OHC)
17. Ravi ( Bajaj Pulsar 220 )
18. Bblost ( Enfield)

We had a great drive, i could easily say one of the best as the roads that we ventured were unexplored by us and we covered so many small villages with scenic background, rolling mountains, greenry on both sides and women working in the fields. It was pure candy to the eyes.

The hightlight of the drive was the company of a BMW 525D and it was really nice to have such a lovely car with us on the drive. However, it had a major problem ( I think the fan-belt got torn or something) and we had to go to nearest village and get a towing rope and affixed the car to the might Tata Sierra and it was an awesome sight, Tata pulling a BMW

I think the Sierra must have pulled the BMW for about 40kms before we came to halt at a dabha for our lunch. While coming back from the interior roads to the main highway ( about 50km), me and solly had great fun as both of us were doing over 150kmph ( me touching almost 160kmph) and it was really really good fun as without hitting that figure, a drive meet is incomplete.

And, what followed was now getting quite familar, lots of beers, great food and lots of chat and getting to know each other.

A couple of hightlights of the drive was a Red color Palio S10 ( re-painted to suit the taste of the owner) that had amazing Yoko S Drives and Ozz Alloys. Another car that had everybody panting for breath was the turbo charged OHC with so many stickers of Greddy and RPM meters and V-shaped Dunlop rubber et.all.

Finally, after lunch and parting photo shoots, Suren and Rider60 got into a small game of their own. Suren was wheel spinning the OHC and Rider60 was tired of his brand new tyres so was wheel spinning his Viva and ripping the new treads wide open.

All in all, it was an amazing meet and thanks folks for joining in for this drive. And, shucks, i am already looking ahead to the next meet-cum-drive.

Cheers
Avi
