I think he will be driving, but he said his car was in the shop for some maintenance work. If he doesn't get it back before Friday evening, then he'll be a passenger.

Ahh - The world of IT! Hope to meet you some other time Godfather.
By the way, yesterday I was reading through the thread about your Trucks unfortunate encounter. I am glad everyone in the family is safe and Kudos to your driver.
Hope to see the revived monster back in action soon. The die-hard Safari lover in me, so wants to see it in its glory again

I hope the gentleman with the Gallardo comes with a spare gas tank... Else poor fellow will have to stop for gas every hour.

My 15yrs old Mazda is highly unlikely to make it , so I've rented from Budget and would be driving back to philly. Lets see what mid-sizer I get tomorrow morning

@RJK

Are you doing east-west coast round trip just for the heck of it? Or have some work on west coast?
Can you post the route that you are planning? Also the approximate distances and total cost?
I was planning to do the same, but put off mostly because I couldnt find anyone to accompany me :(

Abhijit,

Just for the heck of it; can't find a job and my friend quit his job (thats right, in this economy!) so might as well do this meanwhile, right ? Well, tentatively route planned is me driving from Philly to Chicago, spend a day in chicago, pcik up my friend and then both of us would be driving straight to Colorado which is very ambitious and doesn't seem like its going to happen, so stop over in Nebraska for a night, 2days max in colorado, onwards to Utah, a couple of days there, to Arizona; about three days in AZ, then to Cali, Vegas and then get back through wyoming and shoot through to east again. About 17days I have with the car; should be fun.

And yeah abhijit, you're welcome to join us at any leg if you want; fly somewhere and meet us if you want and hang around as long as you want. I've been wanting to do this trip forever too but the same thing, nobody ever has time and I didn't want to miss this opportunity.

Harbir,

That is solid, very ambitious might I say (I don't mean any offence)

He hasn't posted anything after his last post - so I'm not too sure he's going to be present for the drive.
I wonder what happened to prithwi-81 who started the meet thread when we had our previous drive.

Enjoy! How many miles do you have on your Mazda?
I want to do an East-West trip sometime too but, currently, it looks like it's going to be after I retire.
Drive safe! It'll be great if you can put up a travelogue - The Budget Mid-Size Rental Car Diaries. Don't get inspired and start a revolution though.

Hey Chaps, weather outlook is improving.

It has improved from this:
Quote:
Port Jervis: "Mostly cloudy with isolated thunderstorms. Showers likely...mainly in the morning. Chance of rain 60 percent."

Hancock: "Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of showers."
to this:

Quote:
Port Jervis: "Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning...then partly sunny with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Chance of rain 30 percent."

Hancock: " Cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers.."
yay!

Lets keep the original time of 8pm tomorrow for the conference call.

And we're meeting at 42nd and park at 5.45am outside grand central.

I may not be able to make it for the conf call if it's at 8pm. Will probably be on my way to pick up the car.

But that's no biggie. I can call Harbir/Adi to get an update.
