P.S. If an alternate date isn't identified/decided by then, I'm still keen on doing this on 8th Aug weekend.

My dear Sir, there is only one choice here. the Corvette.

I think you fail to comprehend just how divergent the suitability of the corvette for this mission is from the suitability of the other two.

I think you have too much Malibu and G6 on the brain!

1. If you leave the corvette's stability control on, you need not fear losing control of the 436hp engine. You only need to make sure you don't drive too fast for the conditions, just because the car makes it easy to. In other words, its not a dangerous car, but it will help fools kill themselves. I presume you are not a fool.

2. The sound track of the corvette is the second best thing after sex. its worth it for that alone. THe idea of 1.5 days of twisties, listening to that engine rumble and pop and burble, vs a couple of flat sewing machine V6 engines, I think you don't really understand what an opportunity and expereince you would be denying yourself if you don't pick the corvette.

3. tHe corvette's top comes off and stows in the trunk. You don't want to expereince an open car?

4. The corvette's handling is that of a REAL sports car. Not of a mushy sedan. Have no illusions. the C300 does not handle like a BMW. its sloppy and mushy. not as bad as malibu, but nobody ever picked a C300 because of its handling. the same applies to the Camaro.

5. seriously. you are going on a back road hunt. on roads that sports cars are made for. And you are considering not going in a Ferrari rivalling sports car? and seriously considering a mushy sedan and a mushy pony car? Are you serious?

6. POWER!!!! POWER!!! ROAR!!!! ROAR!!!! warp drive engage!!!

Get the corvette. don't be an idiot!

Me too, but note, departure is on the 7th, not the 8th.

Just for clarity's sake.

I guess you're right. A corvette is a corvette after all...

On a related note, you up for a quick run this weekend? My right foot is itching to go on another drive and I don't feel like waiting till 7th.

Maybe similar route as last time, except avoiding all the crappy bits we hit, and go further north. Although there are some predictions (inaccurate as they usually are) of rain over the weekend.

I don't think I'll be able to do this weekend. I have to refile my taxes for the previous year and I keep delaying it and doing other things on the weekend and I just want to kill that this weekend, otherwise it won't happen for another 3 weeks. And on Sunday I want to work on the Lotus. I want to remove the driver's seat, remove the relocation brackets, and reinstall the factory brackets. its a rather involved and time consuming process. and I may reinstall the Lotus Stage II exhaust the car came with originally. I want to do it this weekend so I have time the following weekend incase something goes wrong because I really want the seat and exhaust changed before we take off for the August 7th trip.

So I'd like to keep the weekend for that.

But if you want to get together on the weekend just for a meet, I am up for that. Maybe we can go to Ping's on Mott Street for some dim sum! yum yum!

Ok. No probs... Let me know if you need an idiot assistant with the work you're doing on the Lotus. Don't have anything planned for Sunday so happy to help with wrenching.

I was contemplating choosing that for my CA trip but I'm currently penniless and Hertz wants a $1000 for it for 4-days.
Avis wants around the same for a Camaro for the same duration.

I've had to settle on a lowly mid-size - whatever the rental company has.

Was also looking at a Mazda MX-5 but City Car Rental is out of it for the duration I'm there.

I'd love to man, you know I would! Just can't make it this time - 8th looks very uncertain and I don't want to keep you guys hanging onto a loose thread.

The following weekend will work for me (the 15th). I guess the one after that is also ok.

Satya,

Yeah, if you want to come over and hang out while I pick the Lotus to bits, that'll be cool.
