I took delivery on June 21, 2012. Mine is a APR manufactured vehicle and have had only one niggle appearing sporadically.. The front driver side door locking mechanism needs some extra force or some repeated attemps.

Other than this, no niggles in my XUV. Mine is a W6, so less of electronics.

Wonder what could be the reason that a number of owners want to sell their vehicles with such few kms on board. If it is due to the niggles, I simply hope Mahindra is able to sort out the issues with the car, else the high sales will soon be a thing of the past.

the prices being asked for these are more than the new car in some cases? something seems amiss here.

Its clearly riding on the popularity of the XUV and more importantly booking process getting closed. Buy it, drive it for sometime, and when the booking closes advertise it and get the money back after enjoying the car for a few thousand miles..

Even when I was buying, I enquired with some of these guys just to know about why they were selling, these guys were convincing that the car's booking may not open until August and that the waiting periods will be more than 5 months.. pushing me to give 20k more than the actual price for the car that has run 7000kms. Insane isn't?

re: Mahindra XUV500 niggles & solutions

My friend bought a XUV 5oo during the month of Feburary or so and he has been complaining about thud sound from the suspension whenever the vehicle fall in a ditch or a pothole. He also owns a Bolero and comparing both he says that the Bolero does not make any thud sound when driven over potholed roads.

Can anyone throw some more light on the issue and can any one clarify if Mahindra has resolved the issue if it is an issue with may vehicles delivered in the early batches. I have now booked an XUV 5oo and want to know if there is any suspension issue and if the suspension makes any thud sound when driven over ditches and potholes. Please clarify.

Regards.

SDP, what is the speed at which the windows roll up or down.

For me its slightly slow. But it works without an issue. When the glass is half rolled up and through really bad roads, I get some rattling noise. But I only tested it and generally I never go with my windows rolled down..

re: Mahindra XUV500 niggles & solutions

Hi All,

Second Service update of my XUV 500 W6.
got it done on 3-July 2012.

Problem's Mentioned to the service centre and Problems fixed
1. Front left suspension used to make noise when driven over bad roads
-- NOW FIXED

2. Front Right window used to make creeky sound when half open
-- NOW FIXED

3. Noise from engine bay when accelerated hard in 3rd / 4th gear at 40-60 KMPH speeds
-- NOW FIXED, this was an issue with the belt. replaced free of cost

4. Right side Front Door alignment problems still persists (even after getting it rectified after first service), now the problem happens when the vehicle is parked in an inclanation.
-- NOT FIXED, Service centre guys told that this is a known issue, currently no fool proof solution as of yet. So asked them not to fiddle with the door for now.

5. Brake's have started squeaking when the wheels are turned and brakes applied
-- NOT FIXED, RM has promised to get the break pads replaced once they have the new break pads. interestingly heard that the new design they had come up with still had issues.

Apart from those updates.
My XUV has done 6395 Kms till date, with an average of 13+ Kms / litre (Tankfull - Tankfull) with around 80:20 highway-city driving and with full 100% AC.

Can you explain these issues in more detail?
What was the actual problem you had and what was the solution given?

It will help in watching out these issues closely.

here are the details

2. Front Right window used to make creeky sound when half open
When I got my sunfilm installed, VKOOL guys had opened the beading and had not installed it properly. and due to this the glass lifting system was not aligned. The mechanic checked the motor and the lifting system aligned it and greased it so that now the glass is aligned and does not make the creaky sound.

3. Noise from engine bay when accelerated hard in 3rd / 4th gear at 40-60 KMPH speeds
The Timing belt had become loose - need to keep watch on this, since the radiator fan, AC are all connected via this belt

4. Right side Front Door alignment problems still persists (even after getting it rectified after first service), now the problem happens when the vehicle is parked in an inclanation.
I'm still not sure whether this is an individual problem / one suffered by all, but the answer given was "Sir, Front Right door is heavier compared to other doors so the problem sir"

Mine is C6E, that is mfg by May 2012. I got the wheel alginment/left side dragging issue which I got fixed (I guess he just swapped the tyres - right/left) during the first week itself. I'm at 1800 so far and have not seen any issues so far. I hope it stays that way. I belive the most recent batches are good and nigle free. I'm yet to find out if I have that wiper/motor related issue that someone just mentioned, I will check with my RM on that.
Sad, June was dry and even July we dont see rain in Bangalore :( not used the wipers much so cant tell if there are any issues.

re: Mahindra XUV500 niggles & solutions

Thanks to all for sharing their experiences.. I am planning to book the W8 tomorrow. The color choice is still up for debate (with the home ministry). I love the black, whereas home ministry is threatening to veto the color as Black is not auspicious. Apparently we all have some lucky colors based on our date of birth and i hear black is not among them :(. Anyways, I am doing my bit to convince the home ministry and lets hope I am able to.

@Iride, thanks for your inputs. I am going to negotiate for the bare minimum accessories (floor mats, rear camera, scuff plates and maybe the lcd panels - more for the bragging rights). I just hate all the chrome garnishing that they seem to have..

re: Mahindra XUV500 niggles & solutions

Cars are definitely niggle free. I am yet to see much. My car which is an April make (and I bought it in Apr end) is absolutely trouble free other than the issues I mentioned earlier somewhere in this thread.

On thing though, have you guys experienced the latest firmware upgrade and then checked for Blackberry pairing? I have heard from only one person that it now works in his car after the upgrade. The resultant rush to get it done for my car as well resulted in a bricked "Silver Box"... They replaced it with a new one which already had the upgrade (apparently) but my BB still does not pair with the car! :(

Guys, if you are going to book your XUV through VVC insist that you want your accessories as well as the insurance to come from outside (you will buy). Be firm. They will agree.

XUV comes with dual horn, atleast mine did. Please talk to your RM about this and have them fix it. This could be another way of Mahindra's "VFM" approach.

Thanks Zappo! I am going to book my XUV through VVC tomorrow. Will let them know about the accessories and insurance. This is good advice.

Mine is a May'2012 manufactured vehicle and BB pairs without any hassles.
Let me check the version and report back.
