I feel if I go to Mahindra service centre they would suggest the same and ask for a replacement of Evaporator coil.
Is it ok to clean Evaporator Coil or its recommended for replacement? If replacement then what would be the cost?
First please check if the filter is clogged before going into the more complex problems.

It is just like any heat exchanger, it needs to be clean so that it can exchange heat with the ambient. A clogged evaporator is a perfect receipe for an ineffecient AC in the car. If you have a boroscope, you can take a peek at the condition of the evaporator; you should be able to find vidoes on Youtube around it. While cleaning the evaporator is a regular task at service centers, avoid hitting it with high pressure water from a hand car washer; as the fins might get damaged in the cleaning process.

Part cost of XUV500 Evaporator coil is 9K or so. However, the replacement is a messy procedure due to the idotic positioning of the same. You can check in my car ownership pics on what all parts has to be dismantled to change the coil.

That aside, if its a leakage in coil, the AC gas pressure should come down over a period, with you pressure remaining fine, I don't think its an issue with leakage.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 niggles & solutions

Thankyou mpksuhas, gopa_99 and deep_bang for help. I got my evaporator coil cleaned with a local AC workshop over weekend. He took almost a day to remove evaporator coil, clean it and set it back as he had to remove the entire dashboard to access it. Charged 6K for entire job which included AC gas refilling. Mahindra service centre had quoted 25K including the new evaporator coil and AC gas refilling. AC cooling is back to normal and a huge saving to the pocket.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 niggles & solutions

I own a 2018 XUV500 W11-O (AWD) diesel. Last week, I noticed my right headlight bulb wasn't turning on, so I got the front right headlight bulb replaced at a Mahindra service center in Bangalore. While the headlight was fixed, I now notice that the display only shows the date and time on a blurred grey background. All the buttons on the panel do not work (HOME, Info etc) The service center suggested disconnecting and reconnecting the battery to check if that resolves the issue. I plan to try this tomorrow but wanted to know if anyone has encountered a similar problem before and if there is a way to resolve this

Update - I removed the wires from the battery and put it back and things are back to normal.

Isn't this the screen that is shown when the infotainment unit is switched off? Did you try switching it back on by pressing the volume button before disconnecting the battery?

Re: Mahindra XUV500 niggles & solutions

Recently I drove from Darjeeling to Kalimpong (Very steep downhill and then very steep uphill) and after I reached Kalimpong the AT malfunction light was blinking.

There is no other issue, gears were shifting smoothly. the car has done about 1,92,000 kms.

This happened earlier also and the service center inspected the AT oil. It was normal, and transparent. Service center says oil is sealed for life.

What could be the issue? Or is it any issue at all.

This is due to ATF heating up. Few friends who faced this issue had forced MASS to change ATF, the Bangalore center (Chrome Mysore road) is now okay with replacing ATF proactively. You can check with them.

This is an issue across manufactures, you can see the discussion here - Link (Why it's important to change the transmission fluid of your Torque-Converter AT)

Yes. Once I disconnected on of the wires in the battery and connected it back, when I turned on the engine, the default console/display came back up with all buttons enabled

Re: Mahindra XUV500 niggles & solutions

I'm encountering another issue with my car's power windows. Specifically, the front passenger-side window isn't responding when I use the driver-side control panel to bring it down or up. The switches for the other three windows work fine. Could this be a problem with the power window switch itself, or is there something else I should consider? Before I take it to the dealership, are there any simple troubleshooting steps or resets I could try? The past advice in this forum has been very helpful, and I'm hoping I can get some insights again

I had similar issue recently in my 2014 model and had to replace the driver side door's switch assembly. It costed around 3400 if I remember correctly. But you can try spraying wd-40 on the faulty switch, to see if if it solves the issue.

Thanks. I will try this - from the outside - that switch seems to be good. I will spray WD40 anyway and see if that helps
