Since yours too is a Maruti and a recent one there won't be much of a difference. I have posted the picture giving the location of the port. It I'd just above the clutch pedal. It is at an angle tilting downwards.

The scanner tool will work on the Ertiga.

Re: fun2drive - Free Performance & Diagnostic App from Bosch

I finally tested the device on both fun2drive and Torque pro apps. Pairing with phone was very easy. However I found differences in data which was shown by both the apps.

I tested both the apps on while traveling on Pune-Mumbai expressway. I kept my speed and driving style constant. fun2drive app was showing average fuel consumption as 21-21.5kmpl.

Later I switched on the Torque pro app and while keeping driving style same, it was showing average fuel consumption as 18-18.5kmpl.

I am confused now which one to believe . AC was on for the entire journey. Though a difference of few points here and there is acceptable but this is considerable difference ~ 3kmpl. Why is such a difference?

Few problems which I faced were:
1) Frequent disconnections with OBD device, specially with fun2drive app.
2) Fuel status feature in Torque pro app doesn't show anything. It's blank.
3) I was not able to find "distance to empty" feature in both the apps. Is it depended upon the type of vehicle? I was not able to find this in any of the feature list.

Has anyone faced such issues?

Which adapter (hardware) are you using, JK? Can you post a pic of that?

The hardware I got via a friend.

Vgate-1-5-OBD-II-Reader

What it can do with right sofyware

Function list:
1.Read more than 3000 car manufacturers' DTC (diagnostic trouble codes) both generic and manufacturer-specific
2.Clear trouble codes and turn off the MIL ("Check Engine" light)
3.Display current sensor data, including:
4.Engine RPM
5.Calculated Load Value
6.Coolant Temperature
7.Fuel System Status
8.Vehicle Speed
9.Short Term Fuel Trim
10.Long Term Fuel Trim
11.Intake Manifold Pressure
12.Timing Advance
13.Intake Air Temperature
14.Air Flow Rate
15.Absolute Throttle Position
16.Oxygen sensor voltages/associated short term fuel trims
17.Fuel System status
18.Fuel Pressure

I was asked to use a took called Torque which seems would give lot of data.

The Bosch one just give few parameters you see in the snapshot. You also can record which I am yet to try.

Could not find it, also service manual (parts catalog) also does not show it in the electrical wiring/ harness section. Anything I am missing here?

Isn't it located near the base of the dashboard? I thought all Maruti vehicles will have it there.

Did you try pulling the plastic part below the steering wheel?

It may be hidden inside that area.

Does the Fiat Palio Stile SDX MJD has a OBD2 port? If yes, will I be able to see all parameters or would it be restricted access since this model doesnt come with a MID also.

How old is the car buddy?

Since I own the same diesel engine in my Ritz, parameters won't be changing much.

Even the Ritz does not have an MID but I get most data out.

Anurag.

This was available from late 2007 or early 2008 to 2010.

Great to know that you get most data on the RITZ. Now, just need to know if my car has a OBD2 port and order one. Am just bit too naive on these.

Just spoke to a friend who had a Palio.

He says "Palio doesnt have obd port if im correct. There will be a 2 pin type connevtor with black or green cap near to the battery, thats the scantool port."

Can you check if this kind of pin exists in the Palio?

Which version of Palio your friend has? I ask this because, mine is the Stile variant and I assume would be quite different and the last of the Palio models. I will anyways check it. Car and manual is with a friend till weekend, hence couldnt check as of now

Hi a4anurag,

Where did you found these above 2 parameters? Distance to empty and fuel remaining? When I connected to my i10 1.2, I was not able to see any such parameters in the "add display" list. I only have "Fuel level" display present but it doesn't show any value.

Are these parameters car specific? My i10 ECU cannot display these things?

After choosing the type of display when it enters the sub menu of choosing what to display, it shows some paramteres in Green colour. This means they are the active sensor in the cars engine/ECU.

Check for it being green or no. If it is gerrn it will read out data else it will say "No Data"
