Does anybody know if there is OBD and software compatible for the Maruti alto (2009) and Maruti esteem (2007) and an iPhone. I would be interested in getting this for my cars as am interested in getting this

The software you would use on the phone is generic and would work with all OBD II compliant cars. What you really need to check is if these cars have an OBD II port.

I know that both the cars have a port, but have no idea how to distinguish between OBD and OBD2.

I wanted to use the Bosch software, which says for android phones only at present.

As per above thread which I found, it says Hyundai i10 1.2 is OBD I. Does the car manual has this information, whether it is OBD I or II?

What i understand from little knowledge i have on this subject is
OBD1 is like when we didnt have WWW compliance. In layman terms, every brand used to have their own software trouble codes and to decipher those codes service centres need to have compliant softwares/tools for each brand.

Since inception of OBD2, its more standardized, a common diagnosis data format is what was agreed upon and so it easy for service centres to decode the data without having knowledge of each brand code specifically.

Cars in NA are mostly on OBD2 while in Asia its on OBD1. Do confirm this of your own for your car though.

Just went and checked my car. 2011 Hyundai i10 1.2 is OBD II. It's very well embossed as "OBD II" under the fuse box. So just need this bluetooth adapter ASAP .

Perfect !!! My Honda too is OBD2. I am looking for some adapters on internet , do let me know for your recommendations (if any).

As heard, OBD2 is a complicated piece of electronic whereas OBD1 is pretty simpler in terms of functionality and built. Not sure if maruti can afford to have OBD2 for cars like Alto and M800 but you can never say

Buddy, check you car's OBD port once. Should work like a charm if its OBD2.

Thanks roy! It says mini ELM 327 version 1.5. Is that version number related to anything specific? There is one more product listed which is black in color (can't paste links). Costing aroung 2.2k. What might be the difference?

I have downloaded the app and am now waiting for someone to suggest a place where I can order the connector from. Fingers crossed..!!

Where is this port located and specifically in a FIGO and would the car manual talk anything about this?
