I am planning to replace the stock Air Filter of my Octavia with a K & N Filter would also like to get the custom piping done for the filter as i do not want the suction from the current position i.e. near the bottom of the Fender due to the fear of Water Intake during Rainy Season. Can suggest me the best palce for getting it done in the NCR area along with an approx cost??

Specia tuning for carb engine fitted with K&N air filter.

Hi,
I had got my K&N filter fitted from Automech guys when i got a free flow exhaust done from them for my carb 800.Vivek(Automech dealer) informed
me that a normal mechanic does not know how to tune a carb engine fitted with a SRF filter since the engine burns a little on the lean side.He had recommended a guy Mr Mahesh Powale (location shivaji park ,Dadar) to do the tuning for me.

Has anyone on the forum got their car tuned from this guy?My car off late seems to be experiencing problems like blackened spark plugs and carbon deposists in the tail pipe.Even FE is not so great.I am not sure whether i should go for tuning with this guy or give it to a MASS for a carb overhaul.
Totally confused so guys help me out.

thanks

Hi,

Mahesh does not do tuning himself. The best person in Mumbai to tune/repair or overhaul a Carb is Nitin Panchal who is located at the lane behind the junction of Mumbai Central & Lamington road.

Here's a bit of inetersting read i came across about replacement filters.
Just go through the Technical Footnote

http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/

The performance gain from a perfomance air filter is said to be due to a small drop in pressure which causes the engine to draw in air better leading to better combustion.

So gurus what do you say is this what really happens with a replacement filter ?

Fellow members,

I need the opinion of the member who have installed K&n filter - in Mumbai

i am planning to install one in my zing.
the cost i got from four seasons is as follows-
1. Rc 3570 - 3890rs + 1200 pipe + 250 labour = 5340Rs
2. Rc 3870 - 4290Rs + 1200 pipe + 250 labour = 5740Rs
3. K&n appolo CAI is 9k+ but out of my budget.

are these prices right or overpriced ?

Secondly I am still confused between K&N and green.

green price from viper performance is around the same K&n but i will have to wait as they are out of stock.

Green wind with cover kit is around 8K+ but out of my budget.

So guys, K&N prices ok ? or should i go for green?

I am no expert, but I have installed K&N filter on my OHC and they work out great. I recommend K&N.

You might not believe me, but to my knowledge, the FE has actually increased, when I run it on CNG as compared to when I ran it on a stock filter.
Maybe because the car now breathes better!

Go in for a K&N air filter. Iam using it on my Ikon,Swift. Increase in FE and a lil boost in performance.

Viper Performance would be your best & safest bet.

OR try Motoworld in Bandra.

1. Rc 3570 - 3890rs + 1200 pipe + 250 labour = 5340Rs is a little above the usual price.

I think you're overpaying.

I know the K&N folks (Reza, Lalit) and I paid 4590 (all inclusive) in my Ikon a couple of months ago. This is the cone filter (I think they call it the 'open filter' because it's not specific to a particular car).

Hello members,

Well yesterday i got the K&N universal conical air filter from four seasons.
fitting was a problem as the four seasons fabricator was absent. I had reached at 11 and choose the fitter and also the place in the car, best to fit it. I had to wait till lunch till i decided to go to Automech to get it fitted as the fabricator was not coming at all.

But i must say i am happy of this decision as Automech did a great job and the polished pipe looks really good and fits perfectly.

Thanks to Hyundai's new layout of 2008 Santro there wasn't any other place to fit the filter.

The car seem a little more free and open and sound great over 3000rpm and am hoping for about a km more mileage. will update in a week after a mileage check.

Total cost of Rc 3570 with fitting was Rs. 4750.

Picture does not show the support clip as it was fitting later.
