re: 1st Gen Honda City Owners - Problems Areas, Fuel Efficiency and more

The IAC valve setting can be the cause for the problem. If that is the case then some amount of trial and error can fix your problem.

But the more difficult to identify and handle reason is the gap due to the ware and tear in the TB cylinder and butterfly causing the air to escape even when the butterfly is supposed to be in closed position.

2 possible solutions -

1. Enlarged tb and butter fly - better performance but lower FE - i would suggest this if u have a conical filter and good plugs.
2. New TB

One can get the IAC cleaned, open the sensors and have them air blown, get the injectors cleaned and try to change the spark plugs. Also check for loose wires and hoses that may be leaking.

I'm not in GC Ext anymore but very close by let me know once you're here and we can meet up!

How did you get it rectified?
Well I am going to Pandit for service tomorrow, lets see what happens.
Will give a call next time I am in Gurgaon (Still go to meet friends at GC Ext.). Stay in touch.

re: 1st Gen Honda City Owners - Problems Areas, Fuel Efficiency and more

I have been experiencing the following issues with my car lately:

1. I can smell petrol from the rear end once the car is started.
2. The Fuel Gauge reading is faulty, even if the tank is full it does not indicate 100%. It is around 3/4 'th at full tank.

I have been experiencing these issues after the tank was removed and re-installed to troubleshoot the abrupt stopping of my car earlier.

Issue 1 can have various reasons. Please check all the fuel lines for leaks.

Issue 2 is due to the fuel gauge floater in the fuel tank has not been installed correctly. There is a link rod which would have got bent. Need to correct the angle of that rod holding the floater.

re: 1st Gen Honda City Owners - Problems Areas, Fuel Efficiency and more

This is a little off topic but i desperately need help! I recently got my OHC's steering rack and shaft replaced. now at slow speeds i can feel the front wheels wobble. It feels as if the car shakes as slow speeds. The steering is still stiff and wouldn't return. I got the alignment and wheel balancing done but no issues found. The rims and tires are in a good shape as well. Please advice!

re: 1st Gen Honda City Owners - Problems Areas, Fuel Efficiency and more

Got my car serviced at Pandits. Didn't find him expensive at all. Mr. Pradeep is a real gentle business man, very nice to deal with.
All fluids flushed, lines cleaned and fresh oil filled.
After service the car was still giving problem with pick-up and rpm was fluctuating. On my complaint Mr. Predeep very courteously took back the car and told me that the TB needs to be opened and cleaned, so I dropped the car for one day.
He worked on the car get the TB cleaned, along side replaced my O2 sensor too. (without any extra cost and my old denso O2 sensor was returned to me).
He told me that my TB needs to be replaced and CAT also choked a bit.

Now the car is running fine with a little whistle sound as I floor the throttle and RPM drops when I switch on A/C.
Can anybody tell How to confirm the CAT is choked? and this RPM drop with A/C on.

Hey Desmo,
They are available with Sainath (Khar) - expensive !!!!!
4k for a set , last i saw they were only 2 sets left.

My Wiper motor conked off , a mechanic in juhu said a denso motor will cost around 2500 while another motor (second hand ) for 1700 with 6 months guarantee.
Is this what they cost generally ?

Cheers
Ryan

1700 is a lot for the motor. what is exactly wrong with the existing motor?

Is it the magnets or the coil?

re: 1st Gen Honda City Owners - Problems Areas, Fuel Efficiency and more

Thanks Ryan, 4k is expensive for the fogs i guess. KSM could comment on it.

I am also looking for the driver side power window motor. Getting used ones for 1500 and that too without the auto up / down function. I am looking to sell the car but wanted to get everything fixed before i do. I shall pass on Pioneer's number, you can call and check there as well. They also stock most of the parts.

Hey Kaushik,

I cant really figure what is at fault , i don't know how to , it has completely stopped working and if i try to activate it it makes a sound , this would happen if i press the horn aggressively, for now i got it disconnected at a recent service at solitare honda ,

PS : I was impressed at how the car felt after the service - more on the experience later.

Hey Desmo -

The Power window motor cost 900 bucks got it replaced a couple of months back but without the auto up option, i had even put one costing 1500 for the driver side window without auto up.

PS : just got a KNN intake installed 3500 (conical) + 2000 (plumbing)
the car feels superb now
