Will do it surely.

Since you are based in Delhi, there are many T-Bhpians who own and know Honda City Type 1's and 2's Properly.Get it touch with Arush(Autopsyche) or Manan (m4ugr8) or ankitahuja or KSM VTEC or Toiing. They surely know everything left right centre of these cars.

re: 1st Gen Honda City Owners - Problems Areas, Fuel Efficiency and more

recently additional lanes were oepned for traffic on JVLR which effectively meant no more stop and go traffic of about 2-2.5 KM (out of 22 KM each way journey) which i had to go through every day and this has worked wonders on the fuel efficiency of my OHC; last two tanks delivered 13.75 KMPL (with 70% AC) against previously 10.5 KMPL (with 99% AC).

One of the rubber roof liners on my Vtec was gone for quite a few months. Got them at a place in Goregaon for 450 bucks. I checked the Nissin Brake Pads and got a quote of 1450 from the same place however got a quote of 1800 at City Motors at Opera House. Not sure whether there would be any difference in the quality. Can anyone help me in sourcing the Fog Lamps, no one at Opera House has it.

The rubber roof liner strip comes for 450 bucks a pair. You can get that at a shop named Pioneer at Goregaon. It is near the Goregaon / Oshiwara Bus Depot on the road that goes towards BEST Colony.

Regarding Fog Lamps, no idea from where we can buy those. The Chrome Trims on the window is the most difficult to get. No one has those. I'll go to Pioneer over the weekend and inquire.

1450 is the right price for the nissin pads.
However i got them for the same from City Motors.
Should be in a proper nissin box.

Now recently there has been a problem with my power windows getting stuck due to hardening of the rubber encasing them.
Its a task to spray WD40 every now and then, whose effect doesn't last more than 2days.
Can someone please let me know where can i get the new rubber casing for all the 4 windows ?

re: 1st Gen Honda City Owners - Problems Areas, Fuel Efficiency and more

Dearest brothers. i need some advice. my car, ohc type1 i.5exi, was giving me 13-14 kmpl in bangalore. it was stranded for about 6 onths when i went abroad and when i came back and started using the car again, it was returning only 9-10. asked my mechanic and he said he could check only the spark plugs. i had the air filter replaced and a damaged tube connecting the filter and air intake part. pls tell me what all needs to be checked. the car has done 110000kms.

re: 1st Gen Honda City Owners - Problems Areas, Fuel Efficiency and more

from last month or so, i have been hearing a noise which sounds like the turbo whistle (of Vista or Swift, though only 40% intensity) as RPMs go beyond 2000; this sound gets louder as the needle goes past 2000-2500 RPM; there is no loss in pickup or FE, but it irritates me a bit as the car does not feel as silent as before. any pointers on what to check (checked the air filter, it was clean)?

i initially thought it could be bearings; but when I change the gear, the noise disappears so it must not be wheel bearings; then i thought it might be because of my recent ICE set up and HU change, but in that case (alternator whine) the noise should come from speakers and also disappear when HU is turned off.

and i am sure that i did not accidently turbocharge my OHC.

@infotech

you said noise disappears when you change a gear could be more specific as to in which gear is the noise more prominent ? the nosie can be of synchro rings if you saying the noise comes in one particular gear.

re: 1st Gen Honda City Owners - Problems Areas, Fuel Efficiency and more

Recently spent some money on my 2000 OHC 1.5Exi !
New suspension, lower arms, steering rack, axles, etc...

Just missing is the steering column bearing...Need some help with this soon because i plan to sell this car as soon as the steering column bearing is taken care of...if someone can help me find it...it keeps on making a irritating noise every time there is a rough patch on the road...getting a OHC VTEC !

Check the air filter piping around the rubber ducts. There's probably a small leak somewhere. Alternatively. tape up the rubber ducting completely and go for a drive. Then check for the noise.
