Is any maintenance required for maintenance free batteries.

My Getz came with OEM Exide Maintenance Free battery and it is one year old. I have not checked even distilled water level so far.

Usually the service guys will check the water level duiring the routine service and top up if required. Nothing more is required.

MF requires very few of these checks.

Called up and checked with Amaron at Hyderabad.

Khairatabad Pit Stop: 23315315

Prices quoted for
Amaron Hi Life: 3 Year Warranty : Rs 3184
Amaron Flo: 4 Year Warranty : Rs 3900
Amaron Pro: 5 Year Warranty : Rs 5081

I am thinking of getting the Amaron Flo.
Was quoted 300 for my old battery.
and a 2.5% service charge for Credit Cards.

Note: Info gathered over a telephone. Accuracy not known.

I dont know the cost, but in our Maruti 800, the Amaron is running for 4 years now without any trouble. Once the alternator got bad after driving in excessive deep water logged roads. Still after recharing, the Amaron is working fine.

Yep.
Its opposite the Graveyard.

The address on the web site was not very clear. I called up the helpline and got the phone number.
Then called up the Pit Stop and got directions to place.

Reviving the thread since my 7 year old Exide died 3 days ago !

I don't think that Exide batteries are that much bad from my personal experiences. I've seen lots of Amarons conked off within 2 years.

Exide strikes me again!!

Date of purchase: 15/6/2007
Replaced (under warranty): 20/8/2007
Car refuses to crank: 16/12/2008 and today.
I'm sure its a conked battery. But, will check the electrical system out anyway.
One question: Which ding dong to buy? Mine is a 1.8 Octy.

My 3.5 year old batt conked off and left me stranded a few days back. Got an Amaron Flo no maintenance batt., 48 months warranty, 2 yrs replacement warranty.
Got it for 5000 with 400 bucks off the old batt. You can check that out.

Get the base model battery and change every two years, if you want to be on safe side. I bought a amaron hi life pro and all those with a little excess capacity and i feel the internal clock of it has started ticking just after completing two years(free replacement period). i can see it loosing charge much faster than before, i am running with one amplifier and subwoofer less now than before.

Thanks Sammyboy & Gigy.
I tried to get Bosch Silver. But, the DIN 60 was unavailable. So, settled for Amaron FLO. Don't know the price as I haven't paid the dealer yet.

Good choice!

I reckon Exide have a life span of 2~2.5 years. Anything above that seems to be a bonus, but then everything has its own lifespan.

Is recharge of batteries not an option?

Battery dealers will check out using some meters on the life of the battery, if its above some limit they will recharge (11.OO) not sure

Replacing it upon failure is the only option or is there a way out by where we can get it replaced.

Heard that in petrol cars, battery is required for running the car and thats not the case with diesel cars, anyone explain is that right? and why? If thats true with the petrol cars, is it not safer to check out the life at regular intervals to ensure that we do not got stuck somewhere due to battery failure
