I have been very particular about wheel alignment, wheel rotation & oil change and general servicing till date. I am a regular customer at 3M for all sorts of washes and treatments, inside & outside. I am not blowing my own trumpet, but just wanted to say that Tata products are not as bad as they are perceived to be in India. If you take all the right care, the product serves you really well.

So have faith in Tata and enjoy the product as much as you can.

Here's a recent pic of my Vista:

I hope this was a joke. Why in the world would I post someone else's car photos and boast about it?

And thanks for the wishes.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Reposting my problem. Had posted it in another thread by mistake. Sorry!

Hi TeamBhpians!!

I own a 2010 Vista Saffire Aura completed 18500 kms. To be frank this vehicle rocks when it comes to Space and Stability. But the fitments are a huge turn offs. Till date I have got the rubber bushes, 2 window switches, 1 window revinder, AC fan, Boot Door Balancers, spark plugs + cables changed. Donno what else in the offing. Dashboard sound crops up again and again.
I can live with these minor glitches only beacuse of the comfort this vehicle provides! Whats bothering me recently is the engine break down issue during bumper to bumber traffic. Not at all evident in Pune's traffic. Need to be in Mumbai to experience it. This is the 3rd time.
A) In bumper to bumper traffic jams you need to be in first gear and cosntantly press depress clutch and brakes. In this process the vehicle suddnly breaks down. The tachometer arrow strangely falls down to 0 :O .
B) Once the engine dies it takes atleast 45 sec to 1 minute to start. A huge time span for the road jams.
C) Also if by mistake I try to push the car in second gear just after crossing a speedbraker the engine makes a squeeky noise. ie worng gear engagement.
D) The clutch is geting harder day by day.
E) I happend to drive the vista D90 last week. Fabulous machine! I noticed that the power steering was too smooth. My Vista's steering is pretty hard. Is this the same for all older Vista's?

The TASC are cooperative but lack the expertise to solve these issues. I am banking on TeamBhp now!! Thank in Adva

Totally agree !!!

Wow - that's a stunningly well maintained beauty !

And a petrol Indica!

Reminds me of people laughing at my face when I had the Indica V2 Lxi Petrol (2005 to 2011).

But indeed - seriously well kept. Hats off.

If you don't mind me asking - your reasons for a Safire?

Yes, the power steering in the 2010 vista is pretty hard be it Petrol or Diesel compared to other cars in this segment. Good to hear that the problem has been resolved in the D90. Apparently its a design issue and this is not going to be 'fixed' in this version at least.

I am used to this now, but do feel the difference when I drive other cars.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Our Vista QJD was held on Concorde,Cochin for around 10 days for repairs.
This is a December 2009 model and ran only 35900kms while I gave for repair.
luckily, I took extended warranty while brought the vehicle anew. I called Tata customercare to intervene since I am frustrated enough with these issues. Tata Engineer came from their Kochi office to the workshop.

Their diagnosis:
1. Vista was lagging in power and Concorde found that Turbo has gone bust under 36000kms! - Replaced . but what about reliability! I am one of those who idle most of the times before going off or before stopping the car. but, reliability is at stake here.

2. AC cooling is insufficient and a failure in noon time in particular from the day I took delivery of this car and continuously reported this issue at TASS who as usual cannot find a solution and simply deliver the car back after a wash, perhaps.. they replaced some parts like evaporator. cooling did improve; but it remains the same as when I bought. rear passengers sweats. this car came with Behr make compressor JFYI.
- No solution from Tata Representative.
His claim: Sir, I accept Car's cooling is not adequate.(But, afterwards he shifted from this acknowledgement of problem, fearing something)
other gems - "Sir, our cars ac can only cool 10 degrees lower than outside temperature; Sir, you know the heat this season is too much and it is reaching almost 40 degrees in cochin and so our car's ac cannot cool much"
3. some ECU issues(no errors) - as per TASS, they need 2 weeks to have some software update made available for my car from their pune centre.

seriously! what can I tell back to this man? the CRM,Tata's Engineer and SA are sitting together as if prepared to wash off from their responsibilities towards their customer who brought the car paying ready-cash.

I have no idea what to do with AC cooling problem. the problem is with AC compressor, I believe because they checked AC compressor and it is working fine but cannot cool the passenger compartment most of the times, perhaps because of less capacity(90cc?)
I don't know if I go forward with my pursuit to fix this car will work any more as Tata's representative himself is acting diplomatic.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Concorde has called the vehicle for a "software update" to fix AC cooling problem. so, they haven't done the ECU update while the Car was new.
can someone with vista qjd confirm whether any noticable improvements there with this ECU update.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Is this 'fix' for all Vista's or from the lot of a particular year/month

this is a 2009 model. so, I think this ECU update may be for a particular lot of cars from 2008-2009.

possibly this one:
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...ml#post1497284

I can update tomorrow about this.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

got my car after ecu update. when I sat in the back, cooling was good at 3PM(like - we get the cool air reaches the back compartment). will need more time to give a feedback. however, the cooling definitely increased.

BTW, after driving for around 30kms, suddenly airflow from blower became so low and cabin feels summer heat again. I stopped at a roadside car AC workshop at Muvattupuzha to investigate about this.

it turns out that cooling pipe(or expansion valve?) gets ice formation blocking airflow. solution is to switch off ac for few minutes and it will get resolved.
AC mechanic claims he will rather bypass ECM and put a manual thermostat control(for various cooling levels?) on the dashboard. he claims, the air throughput is not satisfactory with Vista which cannot be resolved.
--
Another doubt I got is: I tried fiddling with the cooling knob when the airflow was blocked, later to put it in maximum cooling position. will it have any effect on cooling?

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

UPDATE: AC is cooling well(good). there is significant difference after the car came with ecu update. you can feel compartment gets cooled faster. rear passenger cabin also gets cooling, but takes 5-6 minutes when I put in 3rd blower position. my car does not have sun films. noon-afternoon time cooling problem also seems to be solved. it takes few minutes to cool down. I believe air vents must be put at upward position so that maximum airflow happen.

BTW, service advisor told me, that 2 firmware updates were done at Concorde,Cochin. one for AC cooling and another update(which is not known).
I believe there is a slight decrease in fuel efficiency after the ECU update?
Thanks to all for the support.
---------
TATA motors has send the AC update firmware only after their engineer called pune centre and verified. this means, Concorde or any other Tata dealers in Kerala may not have this software update. I hope 2008-2009August Vista QJD/TDI cars be taken to Concorde,Cochin and firmware updated.

Is there any way to improve the suspension and handling of the indica vista? The car feels like a boat at high speeds literally.

What all needs to be checked for 40000 service as my mile cruncher is almost near to 40000 mark?
