Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

My VISTA has completed 81K in 5.5 years.

Iam getting some sound form the front. Concorde guy says is clutch release bearing noise and change the clutch plates also as the labour is same for CRB or entire clutch.

One more problem is the disply lights on instrument cluster will appear and go after few seconds. But they come again once i crank the engine and go off after few seconds. Concorde is saying it may be due to key fob problem and i have change entire key, key fob, contral lcoking . Is there a way out as my central lock is working fine and do not want to mess with things which working fine.

I had sent my car to the FNG through someone. Hence could not check the error codes. But was told by my trusted mechanic that it was a glow plug issue and upon investigation one of the plugs pertaining to the 3rd cyclinder was gone. So it was replaced

Are you driving arund for a year with this issue ? Isnt that risky ?

I have shown it to two Tata service stations, but they say that glow plus are fine and its a sensor loose connection. Not totally convinced by what they are saying, so was trying to do some troubleshooting myself. I probably should go get the glow plugs replaced and see if that helps.

Presume this is inline with normal wear and tear for a 5 yr old 37k run car or am I doing something wrong which I need to correct ?

There is an easy way to find out the glow plug issue. The glow plug indicator will blink briefly after the engine starts and the check engine light comes up. In my 2009 Vista glow plug was changed twice and in our 2008 Vista it was changed thrice. So I presume it to be normal wear.

In our 2008 Vista the check engine light was on for a year. Once on, it will be there for sometime and automatically goes off. No error codes were shown, TASC guys checked all the sensors, even wiring and no fault was found. They said nothing to worry about. The entire time car was running smoothly. All of a sudden the check engine light went off on its own. Though not sure, I guess the problem would've got solved when the clutch switch was changed two months back during a major service. The switch was changed by TASC guys due to a recent clutch problem and not for check engine light on.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

My Vista which is going to complete 3 yrs in a couple of months refused to start for the first time but after repeated cranking she started and the engine malfunction light came up. Upon checking I found out that the fuel pipe from/to the fuel filter is leaking. I have attached a pic of the same. I don't think I can drive the car now. Experts or somebody who has come across such kind of issue pls advice on the action to be taken and the cost incurred.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

My Vista has run 47000 Kms, on sunday morning the car would start up, but the engine would die as soon as the throttle was depressed even by a small amount. Could not move the car due to this. A mechanic (non TATA) inspected the car and commented that there is some mistake with a sensor and disconnected this cable and then the car could be driven.

There is some whining/whistling sound at higher rpms and there seems to be some kind of a speed limitation by the ECM because on depressing the accelerator the car does not speed up but the rpms raise. This is in all gears.

Have just kept the car at the TASS. The SA there too commented on a faulty sensor and gave an estimate of 1700 for the same.

What could it be?

This is Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor. Can't comment on what the issue might be in this case except that may be this sensor has gone bad. Ask TASS to check if the issue is gone after changing this sensor. If the issue continues, ask them to put back to old sensor and look for actual root cause.

Sounds about right. Just make sure they give you a proper bill for this with the part no and part description. Fiat has priced the MAF Sensor for their 75hp cars at rs. 3,857 (source 99rpm.com).

Again, please change the sensor only if issue is resolved with a new one (w/o doing anything else). If not, issue lies somewhere else.

You were spot on. The TASS changed the sensor, put the problem persisted. It was then diagnosed that the hose pipe from the Intercooler to the Turbo was torn and needed to be replaced.

Got back to my father who uses the car and realized that the car bottomed out a few days before.

Update :
Yesterday bought tailgate balancers/gas springs LH & RH from RK Auto, GP Road, chennai.
Make: Suspa
Cost: 650 for set (LH+RH).
Option of buying one also available.

Fitment done by myself as its very easy.
1. Remove the bolts and pull from the ball joints.
2. Press fit the ball joint and the bolt on the gas spring on the car.

TASC (Concorde ECR, Chennai): Had quoted 1100 for part + fitment

Is it same as rear struts? I was quoted Rs 2200 per strut + labour by concorde/prerana

These are not the rear suspension struts.
These are gas springs for the luggage door(in the rear side of the car) to lift up effortlessly.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

not the right board, but am believing this is the right place to get a likely answer..

I'm evaluating to buy an indica vista. After seeing the so many posts here, wondering whether to go for the 2014 VX model OR the new 2014 vx Tech model.

The differences according to the dealer/websites

+ in vista tech compared to earlier vx
dashboard is driver aligned
suspension is made better
clutch is better
nav system provided

-ve in vista tech compared to earlier vx
60:40 split option of rear seat not available
driver seat height adjustment not possible
no lumbar support
no charging points in the rear
no electric orvm (manual)
cost : rs 25k more

Is it better to go for vista tech (which does not have any review anywhere) or the earlier vx ? please suggest.
