I tend to agree with Saket here. IMO tyre replacement depends on so many parameters, not just the time period. I know a friend who has not yet replaced his Swift's Bridgestone's for last 72k KMs. He has visited many tyre shops of all kinds of Brands, and none of them suggested him to replace the tyres, just because the manufacturing date was more than 4 years old.

Can you specify the reasoning given by your friend at Bridgestone? I guess it is just a business reason more than anything, but I may be wrong.

He says the tires start to wear out after a given point of time and there is a high chance of punctures and at times tyre bursting is also possible at high speeds on a more than 4yr old tyre.

Hi Narayan, I dont think you should take the chance and clean the filter and reuse it. I know it is pretty expensive and costs about 2 k but I think for peace of mind it is better to put a new one.
The quadrajet engine is sensitive and if any impurities get into the injectors you will have to pay a lot to get it fixed. And also keep in mind that the next change will be during the 60k servicing mark. So your car will be running on a refurbished filter for 20k kilometers which might be about a year to a year and a half depending on the amount you drive. If the work is not done properly you also face the problem of low pick up and acceleration. So is it worth it?
My advice- Dont take the chance and just get it changed.

I have got the alignment done thrice so far (once in 6 months and balancing last year when the car completed 12k kms). I'm planning to get alignment and balancing done next month.

The wearing out seems to be even, however, it was more on the front left tyre. I have got the tyres rotated when they clocked 12k on the Odo.

Regarding the rumbling, I initially thought it was due to the mud on the road that the noise was coming through, as in even the slightest of tilt in the steering wheel would cause this kind of a rumbling noise. Later on, this happened even on a rubberised road. I asked one of the friendly drivers for this too and he was of the opinion that the tyre(s)'s worn out. Of late, experiencing a little ratting / wobbling of the steering wheel, which I am hoping will get resolved after wheel alignment and balancing is done.

Dear Mods, I tried to post a little earlier on this topic, but I clicked on the Send button on my mobile accidentally, requesting you to kindly delete the earlier post and retain this post. Thank you!
Had faced this same problem. Would recommend you to remove each tyre individually and check for any bubbles/bulges formed on the tyre. If yes, they are your culprit. Replace the faulty tyre to get rid of your problem.

He is absolutely right in saying that.
I experienced a tyre burst on e-way. Had used the spare tyre (Bridgestone) as the newer tyre developed and bubble and was noticed at last moment. The spare tyre was 6 years old.
However if the tyre is in use and has decent threading, there should not be an issue.
This issue arises when the tyre is 4 years old and has been unused for 1+ years.

Hi Narayan, if the fuel filter was changed according to the service schedule as mentioned in the manual, it needs to be changed only at 50K service. As per the schedule, the first change is at 10K Kms and needs to be changed every 20,000 Kms. So, further change would be at 30K, 50K, 70K Kms etc., However, if the first change was at 20K Kms then the filter needs to be changed at 40K Kms service. In my Vista it's the second case, as TASC guys recommended the first change only at 20K Kms. So check the service history before changing. It costs around Rs. 1700/- without the sensor. It is not serviceable and needs to be changed, as informed by my regular Service Advisor.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Hi, I have a 2009 Vista QJD Aura. The LED display on the stock Clarion HU has become too dull and I really have to make a great effort to read it. Is there any way to adjust the brightness?

The stock head unit does have options to increase the brightness. IIRC, the manual does explains it.

Re: Indica Vista - list of Known problems

Guys
what would be the approximate cost for a Clutch replacement for a 2009 Vista QJD ? What are all the parts that are changed in a clutch overhaul ?

The online price is about Rs 4700. However the show rooms charge about 6.5 k. This is including labor.
You can check out 99RPM.com for the online price.

How many kms has your car done?

It should last longer. Any reason why you think the clutch has to be changed?
I have done 66k and it is still in the same clutch.
